Gen V Season 3: Canceled After Two Seasons

Will there – Gen V will not return for a third season after Prime Video canceled the show following two seasons, despite earlier creative discussions. Showrunner Eric Kripke said he was “fighting to keep the show” and described ongoing hopes and brainstorming around a poss

When Prime Video ended Gen V with its cancellation news. fans didn’t just lose a series—they lost a home at Godolkin University. The spinoff. built around young Supes uncovering what Vought International had hidden behind the school’s shiny reputation. was supposed to keep evolving. Instead, the franchise is moving forward without a Season 3.

The decision comes as The Boys has already wrapped with its series finale. while Prime Video continues expanding the universe with other projects. including Vought Rising. Gen V. however. will not return for another season despite earlier creative conversations about where Marie Moreau and the rest of the Godolkin crew could go next.

Set at Vought International’s elite superhero college Godolkin University. Gen V followed a group of young Supes as they dug into dangerous secrets tied to the company behind the scenes. Season 1 centered on Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), a powerful but emotionally guarded freshman with the ability to control blood. Her discoveries pulled her into a conspiracy connected to “The Woods. ” a hidden facility where students were subjected to horrifying tests. Alongside her classmates. Marie learned that in this world. being a hero isn’t about saving lives—it’s about playing the game.

Season 2 pushed the tension even further. It shifted from survival as freshmen to something far more lethal: a power struggle that placed Marie Moreau and her inner circle against forces that felt bigger than the classroom they started in. As alliances fractured and loyalties were pushed to the brink. Marie stepped into her power in ways that were both thrilling and terrifying. By the explosive finale. blood was spilled. secrets were revealed. and the surviving students were pulled out of the classroom and into the larger war against Vought International.

The cancellation left fans with one immediate question: would there be a third season anyway?

Eric Kripke’s answer is complicated—and that’s what makes it sting.

Kripke clarified that the decision wasn’t his. “I did not cancel the show,” he told Entertainment Weekly in April 2026. “I was fighting to keep the show, almost more than anybody else on Earth. So I’m as bummed as everybody else out there.”

At the same time, the franchise’s next steps were already being mapped out. Executive producers Kripke and Evan Goldberg released a joint statement about the cancellation via Deadline. The message said: “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin. we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”.

That’s the hinge the story now swings on: Gen V isn’t returning to Godolkin for a Season 3, but the characters aren’t necessarily disappearing from the wider universe.

Behind the scenes, Kripke also described that a Season 3 concept had been in the works before things shifted. In late 2025, he said, “We’re still hopeful we can find a way to do it. So. unfortunately. I can’t share it.” He added that “this idea that Marie is powerful. but that’s not the end of her story. She has to learn how to control it.”.

When pressed about the plan at the time. Kripke said. “It’s very early days. because we’re focusing on getting Vought Rising out into the world. but Amazon has expressed an interest. and they want to hear more potential stories in the world. So we’re internally brainstorming a couple different ideas. We’ll see which ones get traction. but they all have the opportunity to absorb at least some of the Gen V gang. and that’s very much by design.”.

Even with that openness, the current outcome is final: Gen V was canceled after two seasons on Prime Video, and there will be no third season.

The wider franchise plan still points toward new chapters—just not at the pace Gen V fans hoped for. There will be a total of four spinoffs of The Boys, including Gen V. The others are The Boys Presents: Diabolical, The Boys: Mexico, and the upcoming series Vaught Rising.

And for anyone trying to rewatch their way through the last revelations at Godolkin, the show hasn’t disappeared from the screen. All episodes of Gen V are available to stream on Prime Video.

The emotional math is brutal for viewers: Kripke insisted he was “fighting to keep the show. ” while the franchise leadership promised that the Gen V characters’ stories will continue elsewhere. For now. the only clear guarantee is that Godolkin’s story won’t extend into Season 3—at least not in the form fans were ready to binge next.
