Gardaí seize €73k drugs and €170k cash in Dunfanaghy

A large haul of cocaine, cannabis and cash has been discovered during two operations in Dunfanaghy. Gardaí attached to the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a search of a domestic residence in the area Friday. During the course of the operation, Gardaí seized approximately €40,000 of suspected cannabis, cocaine and various types of tablets. A further €33,000 worth or drugs were discovered in a separate search in the same area. They also seized €170,000 in cash and a number of electronic devices of evidential value.

An adult male (aged in his 30s) was arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in the Donegal Division. He has since been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Gardaí subsequently conducted an additional search in the Dunfanaghy area. During the course of this operation they seized approximately €33,000 of suspected Cocaine, €3,000 of suspected Cannabis and electronic devices of evidential value. The

seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis. “Gardaí would like to thank the public for their continued support and encourage members of the public to report any drug related activities to your local Garda Station or through the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111,” a garda spokesperson said.
