Gal Gadot hilariously reacts to being left off Tom Cruise’s famous cake list

Gal Gadot might have worked with Tom Cruise, but that doesn’t mean she made the cut to receive his famous holiday cake.

The Wonder Woman star appeared alongside Cruise in the 2010 film Knight and Day, yet she recently admitted she had no idea about his annual tradition of sending desserts.

Gadot learned about the sweet gesture while chatting with Dax Shepard on his “Armchair Expert” podcast.

“Have you gotten a cake from him?” Shepard asked.

Gadot shook her head. “What cake? He makes cakes?” the Death on the Nile star replied.

Shepard explained that Cruise sends the same special cake to people he’s worked with around the holidays.

Over the years, the cake has reportedly made its way to stars including Tom Hanks, Top Gun: Maverick actors Glen Powell and Jay Ellis, and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning star Tramell Tillman.

‘I don’t like cakes’

Gadot wasn’t too upset about missing out, noting that she didn’t spend much time working with Cruise.

“Well, I worked with him for one night,” she said. “Tom, it’s fine. It’s okay. I can take it.”

She then joked that she wasn’t waiting by the door for a delivery. “I don’t like cakes. I don’t like cakes. It’s fine. I like chocolates,” Gadot said.

However, Shepard made the cake sound like it was worth the hype. He said he got to try it last year at Elizabeth Banks’ house, where someone who had worked with Cruise brought it along.

“It’s a fun thing in Hollywood, and it’s like basically in your friendship circle, the goal is to know someone who gets the cake, and then to go try it,” he said. “Someone at this party had worked with Tom Cruise enough that they got the cake. And they’re smart. They know to bring it to the party cause everyone wants to try the Tom Cruise cake.”

Holiday traditions

“It’s a thing! I’m so out of the loop,” Gadot said. “It’s so hard to immerse in the American culture fully.”

While the Israeli actress might not get one of Cruise’s famous cakes, she has a different holiday tradition with another costar.

The actress recalled receiving a gift from Vin Diesel, who starred alongside her in Fast Five. “Did you get Vin’s… How do you call the house you build from cookies in America? Gingerbread house?” she asked Shepard.

“No, I’ve never worked with him. Do you get the gingerbread house?” he replied.

“Oh, yeah. You know it. The biggest one,” Gadot said. “We need a house for the house.”

Working with Tom Cruise

Talking about the cake also brought Gadot back to her brief time working with Cruise.

“He was the most wonderful — and they changed the scene completely,” she said. “So you come, you learned all your lines, and now, with my English, they completely scratched that, do the new scene, and somehow I figured it out. And we did the scene together, and it was an incredible experience.”

While they waited between takes, Gadot said she and Cruise talked and he was “so curious about my family and my heritage.”

“My grandfather was a Holocaust survivor,” she said. “Years later, after I did Wonder Woman, we met in his house with another director and producer … and he opened the door, and he greeted me, and I didn’t even think he would remember who I am. So I introduced myself, and he was like, ‘What are you talking about? We did that, we did — how’s your grandfather? Is he still around?’”
