Ga. Department of Corrections special agent arrested by GBI

A special agent with the Georgia Department of Corrections has been arrested following an investigation into the misuse of a license plate reader system.

The special agent in-charge was identified as Robert “Bobby” Michael Keim of Eatonton, according to a GBI press release made public on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Mary Chandler, special agent in-charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 6 Investigative Office in Milledgeville, said Keim was charged with one count of misuse of a license plate reader system.

Officials with the Georgia Department of Corrections requested the GBI investigate allegations of misuse of the GDC’s Flock Safety System on Aug. 18, Chandler said.

“Preliminary information indicates that Keim used the Flock Safety System for non-law enforcement purposes,” Chandler said.

Keim turned himself in to Putnam County Sheriff Howard R. Sills on Sept. 1. The 45-year-old Keim was formally charged with the misdemeanor offense. He was fingerprinted, photographed and later released on a property bond in the amount of $1,000, jail records show.

Chandler said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
