FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods Leaks After Taiwanese Outlet 4Gamers Accidentally Publishes Hands-On Preview Ahead of Schedule

FromSoftware‘s highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods, just got its biggest gameplay leak yet, after Taiwanese outlet 4Gamers accidentally published its hands-on preview ahead of schedule. The article, originally set to go live later on August 20, was quickly pulled back down, but not before someone on the Chinese video-sharing platform Bilibili managed to upload it in the meantime.

The leaked preview centers on Moon Blood Bestowal, one of the scenarios that can end a match. In it, the three remaining players holding the most Victory Points at that stage are pitted against each other in a small arena to determine the ultimate winner. Footage from the preview reportedly shows extremely fast-paced combat, featuring double jumps, aerial combat, Bloodborne-style backstepping, summons, character transformations, and even gunplay.

This comes on top of a separate datamine leak that surfaced earlier, reportedly revealing 14 playable character classes ahead of the game’s Closed Network Test. The large roster leans heavily into body horror and gothic excess, with names like Blood-Eater Walter (a disgraced blood hunter who descended into madness after killing his own sister), Guillotine Gillian (an executioner slowly mutating from prolonged blood exposure), Coffin-Bearer Maurice (who fights using an iron coffin housing a tentacle monster), and Gazer-of-Flesh Yuri (able to control enemies’ blood with his gaze). One standout, First-Shard, reportedly can mimic techniques from other bloodlines entirely.

As mentioned above, The Duskbloods enters its first public Closed Network Test this weekend, running August 21-23 across five separate play windows. FromSoftware has gone to unusual lengths to prevent leaks during the test itself, reportedly disabling the Switch 2’s built-in capture button entirely for participants and prohibiting screenshots or clips altogether.

The Duskbloods marks FromSoftware’s first-ever exclusive for a Nintendo home console, first revealed via a teaser trailer during an April 2025 Nintendo Direct. It’s an 8-player PvPvE title set in a decaying, Victorian-inspired gothic city, where players take on vampire-like warriors called Bloodsworn. A separate rumor from a Chinese journalist with a credible track record of Elden Ring leaks claimed the game has been in development since 2019 and has received more gameplay prototyping and validation time than any other FromSoftware title, including Elden Ring and Bloodborne. Despite the secrecy, Kadokawa has maintained that the game remains on track for a 2026 release.

If the game turned out to be as critically acclaimed as Elden Ring, would it be enough to push you to purchase a Switch 2 console? Vote in the poll and let us know in the comments section!

Would you buy a Switch 2 for The Duskbloods if it turns out to be great?
