Friend Pleads for Silence as Death Mystery Grows

Elena Katherine Moore’s family and friends are asking the public to stop harassing Brannon Slice and to give law enforcement time. Elena was last seen working out at Planet Fitness on June 11 before vanishing in the woods behind Lowe’s, and police say her deat

On June 11, Elena Katherine Moore checked into Planet Fitness at 6:40 p.m., worked out, and left a few hours later. Then she walked toward the woods behind Lowe’s, where she vanished.

After days of searching, police discovered a body in those woods that matched Elena’s description. Her manner and cause of death are still unknown.

The Lexington County Coroner has reported that there was no physical struggle and no bruising. cuts. gunshot wounds. stab wounds. blunt-force trauma. strangulation. or other external injuries. Histological studies and toxicology screenings are not finished, leaving police with no clear answer yet about what happened.

Against that gap in certainty, Elena’s loved ones are now speaking out—while urging the public to stop turning their grief into a fight online.

Lee Snell. a close friend of Elena. shared a statement on Facebook on Sunday. written as if on behalf of the family since they are tagged in the post. Snell said the couple had been married two years. and that she has been “in daily contact with Brannon and his family.” She then asked that Sondra Rachelle Campbell “cease and desist” from contacting Brannon or news outlets with her “stories. ” saying “the details surrounding the situation are forthcoming.”.

Snell added that the family is asking for privacy, writing: “Please respect Brannon’s privacy at this time. … Elena has a story and Brannon wants to share it when the time is appropriate to do so in hopes of helping others.”

The statement lands in the middle of a public disagreement about what may have led to Elena’s disappearance. Since Elena was reported missing earlier this month by her husband, Brannon Slice, Sondra has been vocal in the media. She told NewsNation that she suspected foul play. saying it was connected to what she believed were marital issues between Elena and Brannon.

Sondra said, “I do believe there’s foul play. I think my friend was struggling for her life. I think she was literally afraid for her life. There has been issues, they were trying to separate. This is red flags to me.”

She also told Fox News that Elena “was scared for her life” when Sondra last saw her on May 31. Sondra said that when she asked what was wrong, Elena allegedly wanted to discuss it privately because “there’s too many people around.”

Sondra reported missing a phone call from Elena on June 4, then trying to call and text back without getting a response. Elena died days later.

While Sondra remains adamant that “something isn’t adding up,” law enforcement has said it does not suspect foul play and that Brannon is “not a person of interest at the current moment.”

In her interviews, Sondra acknowledged that Elena struggled with anxiety, telling NewsNation, “She loved her life. She looked forward to days. When she had bad days, she still had clients. She still showed up for them. So mental illness and the things that are being said about her. it just doesn’t make sense until this last week of really starting around what you saw on that camera.”.

Sondra was referring to surveillance footage she said shows Elena looking confused as she tried to enter Elena and Brannon’s home following a DoorDash order, reportedly a week before Elena’s disappearance.

So in the same stretch of time where police are still waiting on histological and toxicology results to explain the death, Elena’s circle is stuck between two versions of what the public should focus on: answers, or accusations.

The timeline is now the only thing everyone agrees on—Elena last seen working out at Planet Fitness on June 11 after signing in at 6:40 p.m., then going into the woods behind Lowe’s, later found in those same woods, with no confirmed external injuries and no finalized cause of death.

For now, the family’s request is clear: stop contacting Brannon and news outlets with “stories,” and let the details come as they do. Snell’s message closes with a promise that Elena “has a story,” and that Brannon wants to share it “when the time is appropriate,” “to help others.”
