On the National Mall in Washington. D.C. plans are moving forward for a massive nationwide celebration tied to America’s 250th anniversary. The Freedom 250 Great American State Fair is scheduled to run for more than two weeks. bringing together all 50 states and U.S. territories for exhibits, entertainment, food, and cultural attractions.

The fair has also grabbed attention for another reason: several performers have withdrawn from its concert lineup. Freedom 250 spokesperson Rachel Reisner said organizers respect “the rights of any artist to make their own decisions” and stressed that the event is meant to celebrate “250 years of American freedom. culture and unity.”.

“There is far too much to celebrate about this great nation to let noise and division distract from the incredible moment ahead — and we look forward to welcoming millions of Americans to a fair that belongs to all Americans,” Reisner added.

The dates are set, public access is clear, and the musical lineup is still shifting—leaving visitors to wonder what will ultimately make it to the main stage.

The Freedom 250 Great American State Fair will take place from June 25 through July 10, 2026, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The 16-day event is part of the Freedom 250 celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Organizers say the fair will feature exhibits from all 56 U.S. states and territories, along with live entertainment, attractions, and themed programming throughout the run.

The event is free and open to the public. Organizers encourage advance registration, though walk-up attendance is also expected to be available. Visitors from across the country are expected to come for concerts, state exhibits, rides, food vendors, and special themed events across the celebration.

The lineup has changed significantly after the event’s announcement, with several artists publicly backing out. Among those who have withdrawn are Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Young MC, The Commodores, Morris Day and The Time, and Milli Vanilli.

At the time of publication, Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice remain scheduled to appear. The status of C+C Music Factory has been less clear, and organizers have indicated that additional entertainment announcements could be made before the fair begins.

Because of the recent withdrawals, the lineup remains subject to change, even as the fair’s core promise—exhibits and programming spanning states and territories—continues on the calendar.

  1. Funny how they say “freedom” but then half the artists are backing out. Kinda makes it sound like it’s not really about unity, more like PR. Also Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice better show up if they’re gonna advertise all that.

  2. Martina McBride backing out?? I feel like it’s because they made it political or something. Like why else would people suddenly withdraw from a free fair on the National Mall? And Milli Vanilli?? Are they even still allowed to do anything lmao

  3. Freedom 250 sounds cool but the lineup changing already is annoying. “Rights of the artists” yeah sure but then they should release the final lineup instead of teasing people. I saw Young MC trending somewhere else so maybe this is all connected to that, or maybe it’s just random schedule stuff. Anyway, June 25 to July 10 is a long time for something that’s basically concerts-with-mystery-acts.
