Former NBA benchwarmer Royce White believes he has a shot at becoming the next president of the United States, right after he’s done trying to make a mockery of the WNBA.
White was smoked in his Minnesota primary.
On August 12, White, 35, announced his intent to run for president after getting smoked in the Minnesota Republican Senate Primary by Michelle Tafoya.
“I will be starting my campaign for President next week,” said White after his distant third-place finish, where he earned 45,000 votes compared to Tafoya’s 211,000.
White voiced his disappointment in the results, saying he was disgusted with “Minnesota nice” moderates. He said he of Tafoya, a former ESPN reporter, “Sideline reporter going to fight the deep state? How ridiculous on face value.”
White was a legendarily bad NBA player
Evidently, he does not believe a former NBA flameout going to fight the deep state is as ridiculous at face value.
White, who played college basketball at Iowa State, was selected 16th overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2012 NBA Draft. He never appeared in a game for Houston, and his entire NBA career ultimately consisted of three games with the Sacramento Kings, in which he failed to record a point, rebound or assist. Daryl Morey, the Houston executive who drafted him, later called White “arguably the worst first-round pick ever.”
As part of his lengthy X ramble, White claimed he planned to first win the WNBA MVP before becoming president. White is one of several former professional, biologically male basketball players who have disingenuously declared themselves eligible for the WNBA draft as a way to grift attention off the controversy surrounding anti-trans WNBA role player Sophie Cunningham.
White is involved in MAGA’s crusade against the WNBA
Cunningham drew a firestorm for voicing fear about trans athletes joining women’s sports leagues, and the ensuing media fracas inspired White and former NBA role player Enes Freedom Kanter to declare that they are trans women and want to join the WNBA. There are no trans women in the WNBA, nor have there ever been any.
The WNBA has voiced its intention to ignore White and Kanter. “There are no immediate eligibility matters affecting the WNBA, and we strongly denounce the bad-faith efforts to use these topics to demean or marginalize others,” a league spokesperson said.
White is barred from seeing his ex-wife and child
White spent the week before his election focused on launching his WNBA stunt rather than campaigning. White has begun making public appearances in his wig and sarcastically claiming all the adversity he has ever faced in his life comes from being closeted transgender.
“I realized my fear of flying really wasn’t a fear of flying. It was the transgender trapped inside of me, caged inside of me, that gave me an aversion to small spaces,” he said on the “Free People Radio” podcast.
White’s ex-wife and child have restraining orders against him after he was violent toward them. In 2024, it was reported that he owed over $100,000 in child support payments.
