Former Homeland Security Secretary and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) has filed for divorce from Byron Noem, her husband of 34 years.
Court documents obtained by KELO show the two cited irreconcilable differences for the split, which happened April 6, though the court documents were only made available online Monday.
The two have long denied the rumors, though they were persistent enough that Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Calif.) asked then-Secretary Noem to address them during a House Judiciary Committee hearing in March.
Noem didn’t answer the question directly, instead grumbling about “tabloid garbage.”
(Lewandowski, meanwhile, used his position to act as a “shadow secretary” under Noem at the DHS for his own gain, according to a bombshell Wall Street Journal report.)
Shortly after Trump fired Kristi Noem, Byron Noem was also engulfed in a scandal of his own after the Daily Mail published numerous photos of the former first gentleman of South Dakota wearing women’s clothing, often with fake breasts.
While sexual kinks between consenting adults are typically no one’s business, the content surrounding Byron Noem’s behavior shone an even more intense spotlight on the already embattled Homeland Security secretary.
Representatives for Kristi Noem at the time told the New York Post she was “devastated” by the revelations and that the family “was blindsided.”
