Flutie Flakes to return to Tops Markets shelves this week

Rochester, N.Y. — A nostalgic favorite from the 1990s is returning to the shelves at local Tops Friendly Markets.
On Saturday, the grocery store announced it will once again stock and sell the iconic Flutie Flakes, originally launched in 1998 in honor of former Buffalo quarterback Doug Flutie.
Over a two-year span, more than 2.3 million boxes were sold, making Flutie Flakes a sought-after sports collectible.
The product has made limited-time returns for its 10th and 20th anniversaries, but according to Tops, this could be its latest—and possibly final—comeback.
“From the first day boxes appeared in our stores almost 30 years ago, Flutie Flakes has brought smiles to customers’ faces and brought our football-loving community closer together,” said Ron Ferri, president of Tops Friendly Markets. “We’re happy to have them back.”
To mark the occasion, Flutie appeared at the Hamburg store on Saturday, meeting fans and signing autographs.
Flutie Flakes are expected to return to area shelves this week.
