With game-time temperatures hovering near 90 degrees, the Gainesville Super Regional atmosphere at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium turned tense fast—enough that a Florida softball fan ended up being escorted out and barred for the rest of the series.
The confrontation involved the family of UF-turned-Texas Tech second baseman Mia Williams. A Florida Gators fan was ejected after a spat that included Williams’ younger sister and her father, former UF and NBA star Jason Williams.
A Florida spokesperson said the fan will not be allowed back into Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for the remainder of the Gainesville Super Regional Series.
At first, it was Jason Williams who was escorted out of the stadium by campus police. Williams said his daughter and Mia Williams’ sister was struck by a fan with a handheld fan while the family was celebrating a Williams hit.
Williams returned to the stadium shortly after. Police later escorted the UF fan out of the stadium.
Jason Williams is well known beyond softball. Known as “White Chocolate,” he played at UF in 1998 before a 13-year NBA career and becoming one of the league’s flashiest players. Williams won an NBA title with the Miami Heat.
Mia Williams, meanwhile, played two seasons at UF before transferring to Texas Tech ahead of the 2026 season. Entering the May 22 Super Regional matchup between the Gators and Red Raiders, Williams had belted 21 homers and driven in 77 RBIs for the Red Raiders.
The scene changed quickly—first a parent being removed, then the stadium seeing the other side of the escalation as police moved in again. What started around celebrating a hit ended with security intervention, and now one fan is locked out of the stadium for the rest of the series.

So the dad got kicked first and then “the fan”?? Sounds like everybody was just swinging handheld fans at each other.
I hate when famous athletes get involved like that. If you’re at a game, just enjoy it, not act out. Also 90 degrees?? People are already cranky.
Wait, Jason Williams got escorted out because his daughter’s sister got hit by a handheld fan??? That seems kinda wild but I’m not surprised. I heard it was like a “fight over a home run” thing so yeah. Stadium police just love getting involved.
This is why I can’t do college sports, it’s always something. Handheld fan to the face and suddenly security is everywhere. And they say one fan is banned for the whole series, like okay but what about the family member who came back right after?? Feels selective.
