FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS continue for dangerous heat and humidity

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Heat indices will top out well into the triple digits, which is why First Alert Weather Days are in effect.

- Heat indices the next few afternoons range between 105 and 109 degrees.


First Alert Summary:
This stretch of First Alert Weather Days continues for dangerous heat and humidity over the next several afternoons. In fact, we have extended the First Alert Weather Days to go all the way out to Tuesday!

Tonight there’s a chance of some storms in the evening hours. We are watching a few fire up in the Upstate. There’s a level 1 out of 5 “marginal” risk of severe weather for the western portion of the state tonight.


Thursday is hot with highs in the upper 90s. Heat index values will be around 107 making it a First Alert Weather Day. There’s a 20% chance of storms into the afternoon.


We are close to 100 Friday afternoon, it will feel like 109, the same for Saturday. The only difference is minimal. There’s a 20% chance of afternoon storms Friday and a 30% chance for Saturday. The First Alert Weather Days continue.

There’s a huge ridge of high pressure over our region and this is why our heat and humidity persists.

Sunday through Tuesday is now included in our First Alert Weather Days as temps are undeniably hot. Sunday is at 97, 100 Monday, and 98 Tuesday! The huge ridge of heat continues to control our weather.
