First Alert Weather Day shifts to Tuesday evenings as storms ramp up

There’s an unsettled stretch coming, and it’s starting to feel like the kind of week where the sky can’t really make up its mind.

From Misryoum newsroom reporting, the unsettled weather pattern rolls in this week with rounds of rain and storms mixed with drier breaks that could still sneak in some sunshine. Temperatures stay above average through late week, at least for now. The first shift lands Monday night into Tuesday morning, with showers and storms ending from northwest to southeast.

The biggest severe-weather concerns early are heavy rain and small hail, with flooding the worry underneath that. Misryoum editorial desk noted the rainfall could be high enough to cause flooding in some communities, and the places most susceptible Monday night into Tuesday are along rivers already running high—because, well, it’s been wet through the first quarter plus of 2026. Because of that, the Flood Watch for Monday night through Tuesday has been expanded.

And then Tuesday evening is where things get more serious again. Misryoum newsroom reported that an additional First Alert Weather Day has been declared for communities around and south of Highway 10 for Tuesday evening due to potential severe storms. Once again, all threats are in play, but large hail is the primary threat. The best chance for severe weather in Wisconsin will come closer to Madison and Milwaukee, and Misryoum analysis indicates the timing is about 4–10 PM Tuesday afternoon and evening—strong to severe storms more likely now around and south of Highway 10.

Wednesday doesn’t exactly give people a breather either. Misryoum editorial team stated that Wednesday features a similar chance for strong storms later in the day, with strong winds and hail possible within storms again. The best odds for strong to severe weather land in the southern third of the state. Highs on Tuesday are expected to top out in the low to mid-70s again—possibly even warmer—then Wednesday cools slightly with highs in the mid to upper-60s.

As for the smaller day-to-day rhythm of it: Misryoum newsroom reported more clouds than sun on Tuesday, with another round of showers and storms later in the day and at night, and some storms could be strong, with highs in the low 70s. Wednesday stays mostly cloudy overall, with scattered afternoon showers and storms possible in the southern half of the area, highs in the mid 60s. Showers and storms persist Wednesday night into Thursday morning—then once the wet weather ends Thursday, clouds break for a bit of sun later in the day, with highs in the low 60s.

After that, it gradually turns cooler, but not necessarily calmer. Increasing clouds Friday bring scattered afternoon and nighttime showers/storms possible, with highs in the upper 60s to around 70. Saturday starts turning colder with considerable cloudiness and rain showers in the morning; as temperatures drop from the 40s into the 30s Saturday afternoon, rain/snow showers are possible. Sunday is chilly with a mostly cloudy sky and a high in the upper 30s. And somewhere in the middle of all this, the air in the morning—damp, kind of metallic—lingers like the storms are still thinking about whether to come back, or maybe… not.
