Fire in talks to sign Lewandowski, no deal yet

Fire in – The Fire are reportedly in talks with Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski, with negotiations confirmed but no contract signed. The 37-year-old captain most recently played for Barcelona, and has deep ties to Europe’s biggest clubs and Poland’s national team.

The talk started on a Sunday, and by the time the day moved forward, one name sat at the center of it: Robert Lewandowski.

International soccer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that the Fire are signing the Polish forward. The player at the center of the report is 37-year-old Lewandowski, the captain of the Polish national team, who last played for Barcelona in Spain.

Lewandowski’s career has been built across some of Europe’s most storied clubs. He began his professional career in Poland before moving through German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. With Bayern, he won the 2020 Champions League.

A Fire spokesman confirmed the club is in talks with Lewandowski, but emphasized that no contract has been signed or agreed to.

On the field, Lewandowski’s résumé is matched by his national-team record. He has made 167 appearances for Poland, scoring 89 goals, a run that has helped define his place in modern Polish football.

That influence doesn’t stop when the whistle blows. Born in Warsaw, Lewandowski has become a recognizable figure beyond the sport in Europe and Poland. His social following underscores how much global attention he can bring, with 38.8 million Instagram followers and 3.2 million on X.

For a club already planning for what comes next, that celebrity power matters. The Fire are set to open McDonald’s Park in 2028. They are also coming out of the World Cup break in third place in the Eastern Conference with an 8-4-2 record.

Lewandowski’s potential move would be the latest major addition to MLS in a stretch marked by star-studded arrivals. Since Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami in 2023, the league has also brought in Thomas Muller for Vancouver and Son Heung-Min for Los Angeles FC, both in 2025.

For now, the Fire remain in the conversation—fans get the headlines, the spokesman keeps the timeline tight, and one thing is clear: the possibility of Lewandowski in red still hinges on what happens next in negotiations, not on any signature yet.
