The Indiana Fever continued their hot streak on Friday night, defeating the Portland Fire 112-98 on the road for their fifth straight win and improving to 19-10. Indiana has also won nine of its last 11 games while reaching the 100-point mark in five consecutive contests, extending its own WNBA record. The Fever have now scored at least 100 points 13 times this season, another league record.
Kelsey Mitchell finished with 26 points, matching Caitlin Clark’s game-high total, and continued one of the best scoring stretches in league history. Mitchell recorded her 13th consecutive game with at least 20 points, tying Diana Taurasi for the second-longest such streak in WNBA history. Only A’ja Wilson’s 20-game streak ranks higher.
In the third-quarter, Mitchell sinked a 3-pointer that moved her past Tina Thompson into sixth place on the WNBA’s all-time 3-pointers list. After making four shots from beyond the arc against Portland, Mitchell increased her career tally to 751 while padding her Fever franchise record.
The All-Star also stretched her WNBA-record streak of games with at least three made 3-pointers to 13, surpassing the next-longest run by three games. In addition, Mitchell pushed her double-digit scoring streak to 44 consecutive games, tying Tina Thompson for the 16th-longest streak in league history.
Mitchell’s production throughout July was equally historic. She averaged a franchise-record 27.2 points per game over 10 appearances during the month, breaking her previous team record of 25.2 points per game set in August 2024 across six games.
Meanwhile, Clark also produced another historic performance with her fourth career triple-double, recording 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. She became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,500 career points and 650 assists, accomplishing the feat in 78 games after surpassing Sue Bird’s previous mark of 116 games. Clark also tied Sabrina Ionescu for the third-most triple-doubles in WNBA history.
Monique Billings, Makayla Timpson, Aliyah Boston and Sophie Cunningham also scored in double figures for Indiana. Bridget Carleton led the Fire with 26 points as Portland dropped its fourth straight game.
The Fever moved into fourth place in the WNBA standings, sitting a half-game ahead of the Atlanta Dream and a half-game behind third-place Golden State Valkyries before a road matchup against the league-leading Minnesota Lynx, who enter the game on a nine-game winning streak.
