Family of missing Cary woman returns to US after search, believes no foul play in disappearance

The family members of a missing Cary woman return to the Triangle Friday after searching for her in Grenada. 

10 members of the family searched for 43-year-old Elizabeth “Liz” Waddell. They said they believe there was no foul play involved in her dissappearance. 

In a statement on Wednesday, her husband,
Cailen Waddell, wrote on the website FindLiz.com,

We have done what we can here,

After careful and
thoughtful consultation with family, local authorities, the U.S. Embassy, and
others here in Grenada, I join authorities in believing there was no foul play.

Liz Waddell, 43, was last seen Wednesday, July 22, near
Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s. She was vacationing in Grenada with a friend.

The family also shared on the FindLiz website, surveillance video from the Airbnb and a photo of Waddell
as she left the Airbnb in an orange top and blue-and-white striped shorts.

Her husband believes she went for a swim in that clothing.

Both of these clothing items were newer, so I don’t
think we have pictures of her in them. To confirm, she was wearing this
clothing in the water, Cailen Waddell wrote.

Grenada police commissioner Randy Connaught said Liz Waddell
remains missing, but investigators are hopeful she will be located.

As some friends and family begin returning home to start
processing everything that has occurred, we want to thank our friends and
family as well as the local authorities for their compassionate, and tireless
efforts to locate Liz. Cailen Waddell wrote. I also want to thank the many friends, loved ones, and
specifically every Grenadian we have encountered for their love, thoughts,
vibes, energy, and prayers in response to this heartbreaking situation. At this
time, I ask for privacy for my family and loved ones.”
