For years, Facebook has been where people go to scroll, react, and talk. Now the app is adding something closer to a personal assistant—an answering genie that shows up when you ask a question.
Facebook has rolled out a batch of AI-powered features, with AI Mode as the headliner: a new way to get answers to questions directly inside Facebook using Meta AI. The feature is designed to work from both the Feed and the search bar, so the question doesn’t have to start in a separate browser tab.
In a blog post, Facebook says AI Mode pulls answers from public content across Meta’s apps, including Groups and Reels. Instead of returning a list of links, it surfaces answers intended to reflect what real people are saying.
The engine behind AI Mode is Meta AI, which runs on the company’s Muse Spark model. Facebook’s pitch is clear: this isn’t just another search results page. It’s an attempt to make answers feel native to the social experience, built on Meta’s own ecosystem rather than the broader web.
That puts Facebook in direct competition with Google’s AI search tool with the same name. Google’s version uses AI to synthesize answers from across the web, while Facebook’s answers draw from its own network of social content.
Meta’s update doesn’t stop at search. Facebook is also introducing AI-powered creative tools aimed at turning everyday moments into something more polished. Updated camera roll suggestions now include collage templates based on recent moments and transition effects for video montages. There’s also a new Wear It feature that lets users virtually swap their outfit in photos using AI presets. including an option for sports fans to don their team’s jersey.
For Facebook’s massive user base, AI Mode could change the rhythm of how information is found on the platform—if people trust the answers it surfaces and are willing to move from reading posts to asking questions and receiving direct responses.

So basically Facebook is becoming Google now? Cool I guess.
I don’t want an “answer genie” in my feed. Like are they pulling from Reels too? Next thing you know it’s gonna tell me what I already said in the comments lol.
Wait, so it only uses “public content” across Meta? Does that mean if I posted something in a private Group it’ll still be used? Idk how “public” works on FB anymore. Also Muse Spark?? sounds like a music thing, not AI.
This is what happens when they can’t show you ads fast enough—now they’ll answer questions for you and you don’t even click links. Google will get mad but honestly Google kinda already does that. The outfit swap thing is cool though, my cousin did a jersey filter and it looked real enough I thought it was a commercial.
