Meta framed the move as part of its broader push to infuse AI across products. The practical promise is simple: ask a question in Facebook and get an answer, backed by the public conversation happening inside Meta’s ecosystem.
The rollout doesn’t stop at search. Meta is also updating Facebook’s camera roll sharing suggestions with collage cutout templates and transition effects. The feature is tied to the tools Meta introduced late last year. and it’s meant to help people turn photos into video montages with a polished look. Meta says the templates and effects will let users “produce smooth. stylized video montages.” Just as important for anyone worried about losing control of how things look. Meta is making it opt-in only. and users can turn it off at any time.
There’s also a new creative layer aimed directly at self-expression. Meta is introducing AI photo presets that let people customize hair, clothing, and accessories. To use it. the workflow is built into existing story and profile tools: users can tap the “AI edit” icon in stories and select “Wear it. ” or they can go to their profile picture and tap “Restyle” to get similar options.

The collage templates sound cool until it starts “finding” stuff from Groups and Reels that I didn’t ask for. Like is it gonna recommend me things I already said months ago? Facebook gonna be Google now lol
Wait the AI mode answers questions based on what people are saying publicly, right? That just feels like they’ll scrape random comments and present it like it’s fact. Also “opt-in only” always sounds like a checkbox I won’t notice until it’s too late.
I don’t get it. If I ask “where can I buy shoes” it’s gonna search Reels and answer me? But I thought Meta already had Marketplace… so why the AI? Next they’ll be editing my hair and clothing without me even touching the button. I’m sure it’s “off whenever” though like everything else on there.
