Euphoria Finale Fuels Daisy Miller Spinoff Buzz After Rue’s Death

Euphoria spinoff – After Euphoria’s series finale, fans latched onto Daisy Miller—Rue’s fictional religious-leaning guide—wondering whether Jessica Treska’s character could return in a spinoff. The creator, though, has said the show is over, with an ending framed as an “honest”
A single, quiet beat at the center of Euphoria’s finale is sending the internet spinning again: Daisy Miller.
In the finale, Ali (Colman Domingo) returns to the Miller farm after avenging Rue’s death—killing her boss Alamo Brown in an “epic showdown.” When Ali tells Daisy that her friend is “in a better place,” the news lands hard. The group then says a prayer in Rue’s honor, and the camera turns to Daisy.
For some viewers, that focus felt less like closure and more like a setup. “Why do I suddenly feel like SHE’S gonna become the next narrator replacing Rue,” one fan posted via X, pointing to how “the way the camera focused on her this episode felt way too intentional.”
Daisy’s connection to Rue runs deeper than the final scenes. Daisy Miller was introduced in the season 3 premiere as Rue (Zendaya) left the Miller family homestead behind. Rue later referenced the place many times, calling it the most “peaceful” area she ever visited. Daisy. for her part. showed an interest in Rue’s life—especially because Rue was so disconnected from the modern world.
That backdrop is part of what makes the spinoff talk stick. Even as some social media users discussed the possibility of more episodes centered on Daisy, others were quick to remind everyone of the biggest fact: Euphoria is officially done.
Creator Sam Levinson confirmed as much after the Sunday, May 31, finale killed off Rue. In a post-finale segment, Levinson delivered an ending framed as realism rather than wish fulfillment. “The honest ending is that people like Rue don’t make it,” Levinson said. “People relapse and they f*** up. They’re not ready to get clean. And they weren’t dying like they are now with the influx of fentanyl into this country.”.
Levinson also tied the show’s final message to his own life. “I could say with absolute certainty that if I was going through what I went through when I was younger now then I wouldn’t be here either. ” he added. before referencing Angus Cloud’s death from an accidental overdose. “There’s no reason to sugarcoat it. I wanted to tell the story for Angus and for people who weren’t granted a second chance.”.
Levinson called the finale “an honest ending.” He previously said he planned to dedicate the season to Cloud—who died at age 25 before filming on the final episodes started. During one of Rue’s final moments, she has a flashback to a moment she shared with Cloud’s character, Fezco “Fez” O’Neill.
The timeline behind the show’s return also matters to how fans read the ending. At the April premiere event for season 3. Levinson addressed why it took so long between seasons 2 and 3. pointing to “the strikes” and trying to make a schedule work with a “very in-demand cast.” But the “real time” was about “figuring out how to find a way to pay respect to those who we lost.”.
He returned to Cloud again when discussing the stakes of those losses. “When Angus died, it was tough. I loved him deeply. and I fought hard to keep him clean.” Levinson said that in 2023—the year Cloud died—Cloud was one of 73. 000 people in America who died of a fentanyl overdose. “I learned a whole lot that year,” Levinson said. “But what I realized more than anything is that death is what gives life meaning. You can’t be arrogant about existence. You’re forced to reckon with the fact that life itself is a wonder, a gift, a profound blessing.”.
For now, the idea of a Daisy Miller-led continuation collides with the creator’s own words: the end is meant to be final. Euphoria is now streaming on HBO Max.
And still, for viewers staring at Daisy’s visibly shaken reaction—especially after that prayer in Rue’s honor—the question remains: if the show ends, why did Daisy’s presence feel so clearly held back for something more?

Wait so Rue died and now Daisy is gonna replace her?? that’s wild.
I didn’t even finish it but the headline said spinoff buzz so of course they’re bringing Daisy back. Producers always do that camera stare thing and then it’s like “hey here’s season 2 but different.”
They say the show is over but they focused on Daisy for like 3 seconds longer than normal so… seems pretty obvious she’s the next narrator? Also I thought Ali was the one who was religious? idk I’m confused. The prayer scene made it feel like setup, not closure.
Levinson said it’s done but that doesn’t stop HBO from making money lol. Rue already left the Miller farm so if they do anything it would be about the farm or whatever, not Daisy. Unless Jessica Treska got signed for like 10 more episodes already, then yeah I guess.
