Erika Kirk backs Spencer Pratt’s Los Angeles bid

Erika Kirk has thrown her support behind Spencer Pratt’s mayoral bid for Los Angeles—despite living in Arizona and being unable to vote—praising Pratt’s unconventional campaign ads and framing his race as an American-style fight against a failing system.

Erika Kirk didn’t need a ballot to make her point. In a post to X on May 21, she backed Spencer Pratt’s run for Los Angeles mayor, even though she lives in Arizona and can’t vote for him.

“Regardless of the outcome of Spencer Pratt’s race. what he’s doing is authentically American. ” Kirk wrote. adding that Pratt “deserves credit for stepping up and trying to be part of the solution.” She doubled down on the idea that the effort matters more than the result. framing the campaign as a move by citizens who refuse to stay on the sidelines.

Kirk argued that Pratt’s unconventional approach is part of why people are drawn to him. She called his campaign ads “unconventional, but that’s the point; it’s refreshing,” and contrasted his style with what she views as the usual language of career politicians.

“He’s speaking as an American who sees and deeply understands how fragile the simple things in life are when leadership fails,” Kirk wrote.

The ads she’s rallying behind range from AI-generated clips mocking Mayor Karen Bass and California Democrats to videos that push back at critics who questioned whether Pratt even lives in Los Angeles.

Kirk said the moment fits a bigger story about how the country works—or doesn’t—when leadership goes wrong. She wrote that the U.S. was founded on citizens willing to challenge “a failing system” and said she hopes scenes like Pratt’s candidacy push more Americans to get involved.

“This is what this country is all about. Citizens willing to step into the political arena, unafraid, and challenge a failing system, much like the one that has destroyed Los Angeles,” she continued.

“I hope moments like this inspire more Americans to throw their names into the mix, run for office, get involved and stand up for what makes this country exceptional.”

Kirk’s endorsement comes as President Donald Trump has also weighed in on the campaign this week. Trump told reporters he’s rooting for Pratt “to ‘do well.’”

“I’d like to see him do well — he’s a character,” Trump said. “I don’t know, I don’t know him. I assume he probably supports me. Does he support me?… I heard he does. I heard he’s a big MAGA person. He’s doing well.”

Pratt, a former registered Republican, has repeatedly distanced himself from the MAGA label, saying his campaign is solely about fixing Los Angeles.

Even from Arizona, Kirk is signaling that she sees Pratt’s effort as part of a broader American impulse: step forward, take the heat, and try—win or lose—to alter the outcome for a city that, in her view, has been let down.

  1. Those AI ads are “refreshing”?? that’s wild. Like mocking Karen Bass with AI just seems… fake, but okay I guess

  2. I mean she’s in Arizona but still somehow it’s “authentically American” or whatever. Didn’t Arizona just vote for the wrong system too? seems like everyone’s mad at leadership and then uses more ads to fight

  3. Spencer Pratt in 2026?? I always thought he was just a reality TV guy, not some savior of LA. Trump “rooting for him” makes me side-eye everything. Also the article says people questioned if he lives there… and she’s like “doesn’t matter if it works, effort matters” like okay but we still need actual plans
