England vs Mexico kick-off stays 6pm after storm talks

England’s World Cup last-16 game against Mexico will kick-off as scheduled at 6pm local time on Sunday (1am on Monday, UK time) after further discussions, it is being reported. The start of the clash at the Estadio Azteca, Mexico City, was scheduled for 1am UK time, with the government announcing pubs would be allowed to stay open for the match. But talks have reportedly under way between the game’s governing body Fifa and the two teams about moving the game forward due to possible storm

conditions in Mexico’s capital city. Multiple reports suggested an earlier kick off time of 12pm in Mexico, meaning 7pm on Sunday in the UK, was being considered. The Football Association has yet to receive confirmation of whether the start of the game will be moved, despite the fact that kick-off time would be less than 48 hours away, the Press Association reports. This is breaking story. We will bring you an update when one becomes available.

  1. Storm talks but they kept it?? I mean weather is weather. Pubs being allowed to stay open sounds like they just wanna keep selling beer either way.

  2. Wait so it’s England time 1am or 6pm? These time conversions always confuse me. If Fifa was discussing moving it, then why would the FA not confirm yet? Seems like they’re winging it.

  3. They should’ve just delayed it if there’s a storm, regardless of FIFA meetings. Also, I swear last time they said “conditions might be bad” it ended up being postponed anyway. 6pm local at Azteca doesn’t sound right to me, I think UK time is what matters and it’s probably 7pm. idk
