Emmanuel Acho calls Rams’ Garrett trade unfair

Emmanuel Acho says the Los Angeles Rams got the better end of their blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett, arguing the defensive superstar’s impact over the next five years dwarfs what the Cleveland Browns received.

It didn’t take long for the reaction to set in after the Los Angeles Rams landed Myles Garrett. The move instantly made the Rams feel like more than just a dangerous roster—they looked like a serious title threat, powered by what Emmanuel Acho called a build that’s “quite literally unfair.”

Garrett arrived in Los Angeles as the All-Pro defensive end after the Rams traded for him from the Cleveland Browns. For Cleveland. the deal came with a steep price: the Rams gave up Jared Verse. a first-round pick in 2027. a second-round pick in 2028. and a third-round pick in 2029 to secure Garrett. who captured his second Defensive Player of the Year trophy last season.

Acho. an NFL analyst who had a brief stint in the league. didn’t soften his stance on “Speakeasy.” “What the Rams are building is quite literally unfair. You have one of the best pass rushers, if not the best pass rusher, in all of football. You got a top-five quarterback right now. You have two top-10, top-12 wide receivers, including a top-five wide receiver. Then you have Trent McDuffie, who has proven to be an All-Pro cornerback,” he said.

He framed it as a concentration of talent at the positions that decide games. “At the premium positions of football, you have premium players,” Acho added.

Acho went further, insisting the trade itself favored Los Angeles. He said the Rams “absolutely won” the deal, arguing that even with Garrett now 30 years old, his effect on the game over the next five years would outweigh what Cleveland is getting from Jared Verse, described as a rising star.

“ You might be saying to yourself, ‘Well, yes, they got an older Myles Garrett.’ I would still suggest Myles Garrett would probably have a bigger impact on the game of football over the next five years than Jared Verse, who is a rising star,” Acho said.

He also made a bold long-range projection about Garrett’s place in the game. “Myles Garrett is a generational talent, probably going to retire as a top-three defensive end in the history of the game of football. It’s unfair what the Rams are building here in California.”

For the Rams. the football logic behind the talk is simple: their defense was already strong enough to stay in every game. and Garrett is a piece that can change how offensive coordinators game-plan an entire season. Los Angeles’ defense allowed an average of 20.4 points last season, which ranked 11th-best in the league.

Last year, the Rams finished with a 12-5 record and advanced to the NFC Championship Game, where they lost to the Seattle Seahawks.

Garrett’s arrival means Los Angeles will now operate with him joining Matthew Stafford. the reigning MVP. as well as Davante Adams and Puka Nacua. with Acho pointing out the contrast between elite pass rushers and elite supporting pieces across the roster. Whether the Browns can turn the picks and Jared Verse into the next wave of contention will be the real test after Cleveland traded away what Acho called arguably its best player.

For now, the debate is already loud: a blockbuster trade, a heavyweight addition, and one of the sport’s familiar voices calling the whole thing “unfair.”

  1. I didn’t even know all the picks went that far out, 2029?? That’s wild. But also everyone says “unfair” every time a big trade happens so idk.

  2. So they basically won bc they have a good QB and WRs too? That’s kind of obvious. Also Garrett 30 years old but “next five years” like what, he’s gonna turn into 2016 again? Feels like Acho just talking loud.

  3. This is why I hate when they trade DEs, like one guy doesn’t just fix everything. Browns gave up Verse?? Was he even that good, I swear I saw him drop a pass one time. Rams got Trent McDuffie too so now they’re stacked stacked. But Cleveland always finds a way to mess up trades so maybe this is just karma.
