Earlier this year, Elon Musk became the first person to ever have a net worth of $1 trillion thanks to a strong market debut for his space company SpaceX. While SpaceX stock has fallen in value and Musk is no longer a trillionaire, his wealth continues to be so substantial that it’s hard to quantify just how rich he is.

Elon Musk’s Net Worth

A recent rebound in SpaceX stock has helped Musk top the $800 billion net worth mark once again, making him more than $500 billion richer than second-place Larry Page.

Musk is currently worth $873 billion, up $254 billion in 2026, according to data from Bloomberg. Page is a distant second place at $295 billion.

So just how rich is Elon Musk? Well at his current net worth and with a substantial lead over second place, here’s one way to think about it.

There are currently 8,311,558,879 people on Earth, according to Worldometer.

Musk could give every person in the world $69.420 and he would still be worth more than $296 billion, keeping him in first place ahead of Page.

It’s worth noting the huge coincidence in this figure, as Musk has been known to use 69 and 420 memes in various social media posts. He once promised to take Tesla private at $420 per share. Tesla merchandise has also famously been sold at price points with these figures.

Musk was born on June 28, which is exactly 69 days after 4/20.

The net worth for Musk is, of course, made up of equity stakes in Tesla Inc, SpaceX, and other ventures, and not just sitting in a bank. The exercise above is for entertainment purposes to show just how big the gap between first and second place in and just how rich Musk is currently on paper.

The billionaire owns around 11% of Tesla stock and around 42% of SpaceX stock.

Elon Musk’s Net Worth History

Musk became a billionaire at age 41 and later became the world’s richest person thanks to Tesla’s stock price.

Musk was worth so much at one point in 2021 that he could buy every MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL team.

A drop in Tesla’s share price in 2022 took Musk’s wealth down so much that he was awarded a Guinness World Record for the biggest one-year drop in net worth.
