At a time when the signs were pointing to a potential return to Cleveland from pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney, he’s instead returning to a different former team.
NFL Network reports that Clowney has agreed to terms with the Texans.
Clowney, who arrived in Houston as the first overall pick in the 2014 draft, spent five years there. He was a Pro Bowler in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
After his fifth season, Clowney signed with the Seahawks. A year later, he joined the Titans. After two seasons in Cleveland, Clowney’s game of NFL hopscotch continued in Baltimore, Carolina, and Dallas.
He had 8.5 sacks in 13 games (six starts) for the Cowboys in 2025.
Clowney joins a defense that is already chock full of superstars. With Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter as the starters, Clowney gives them a robust rotation that can wear an offensive line down, and that can wear a quarterback out.
Watch the Texans this year. Their defense will continue to be dominant. And their offense needs to simply be competent to provide enough balance to make it to the AFC Championship for the first time and, in turn, to the Super Bowl for the first time.
