EA Sports sets June 4 Opening Drive for two

EA Sports will begin a new “Opening Drive” on June 4 to unveil details for College Football 27 and Madden NFL 27—two releases that are expected to land close together on the calendar, following last year’s staggered drop dates.

EA Sports is turning its next big reveal into a shared moment.

On Friday, the company announced a new “Opening Drive” event scheduled for June 4. The purpose is straightforward: reveal details for both College Football 27 and Madden NFL 27 in one push, instead of treating them like two separate trains that arrive one after the other.

The timing matters because the two games are set to land relatively close together this year. Last year, College Football 26 released on July 10, followed by Madden on Aug. 14. With that pattern in mind. fans can reasonably expect EA’s next cycle to keep the excitement stacked rather than spaced out.

The decision to bundle the reveal also leaves room for a question that EA can’t fully control: what kind of relationship will exist between the two franchises? When people think about College Football and Madden together, integration is usually the first thing that comes to mind.

In the old NCAA Football games, players had the option of importing draft classes into Madden. That feature has been missing since EA Sports resurrected its college football series. EA’s choice to tease two major releases under one “Opening Drive” banner is the kind of setup that makes many players wonder whether that missing thread is finally being pulled back into place.

It could be something as specific as importing draft classes returning. Or it could be a broader connection—one that links College Football 27’s Road to Glory mode with Madden NFL 27’s Superstar mode more directly. Either way. the June 4 reveal is likely to be a magnet for buzz. because headline additions don’t just sell games. They also answer the questions players have been carrying since the last integration disappeared.

  1. Wait so they’re combining reveals for both games and that means the games drop the same day too right? Like EA can’t even stagger it? I’m confused.

  2. If they bring back draft class importing from College Football into Madden… that would be insane. I remember that feature being a thing but then it disappeared and everyone got mad. So hopefully this “Opening Drive” is basically EA fixing their mess.

  3. I don’t trust EA to integrate anything. They’ll tease Road to Glory and Superstar and then it’ll just be like 2 cutscenes and a new menu. Also “opening drive” sounds like football announcer hype not actual gameplay stuff.
