PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A rather persistent weather picture will bring us unseasonably hot temperatures not only through the weekend but throughout next week.
Just before 7 p.m. Friday, an outflow boundary began moving northwest from Pinal County and into the Phoenix area. There is no rain associated with this system, but it’s bringing blowing dust and high winds toward the Valley.
Around 9:30 p.m., the dust reached Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, causing low visibility.
We’ll set some record highs and perhaps some of those “warm lows” over the next seven days, and it appears we’re locked into a pattern that may not break until September.
Highs will range from 110 to 114 degrees, which is pushing 10 degrees above average. Only isolated thunderstorms will develop in the High Country from time to time.
The 30-day outlook for rain in September is still leaning positive for Arizona. The models seem to depend on pulling more moisture out of the Gulf of California into southwest Arizona.
Also, as we get later in the month, the remnant of a tropical storm could impact Arizona. The 30-day outlook also calls for warmer-than-normal temperatures, but there is no sign it will be a “super” hot month.
