A Polish truck driver is now serving more than a decade behind bars after cocaine worth roughly $8.4 million was found hidden in a shipment of Kim Kardashian’s “Skims” underwear and clothing.
Jakub Jan Konkel, 40, was sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison on Monday for smuggling drugs inside his truck carrying 28 pallets of Skims clothing from the Netherlands.
Konkel. from northern Poland. was stopped by Border Force officers at the Port of Harwich in Essex. England. as he arrived on a ferry with his truck full of the celebrity shapewear last September.. The shipment itself was legitimate. officials said: neither the exporter nor the importer of the clothing was connected to the smuggling operation.
After his vehicle was X-rayed, investigators discovered that Konkel had stopped during the journey to pick up 90 packages of cocaine, totaling 198 pounds. He then wrapped the bundles and slipped them into a specially adapted compartment in his truck’s back doors.
Investigators estimated the cocaine’s street value at roughly $8.4 million.
Konkel initially denied knowing anything about the stash, but later confessed to agreeing to smuggle the drugs for 4,500 Euros, roughly $5,276.
“These drugs destroy lives and inflict misery on our communities,” said Border Force Assistant Director Jason Thorn.. He added that the interception was “testament to the brilliant work of Border Force. ” depriving criminal networks of millions in profit.. “We continue to work round the clock to relentlessly pursue criminality. protect our borders. and keep these dangerous drugs off our streets.”

13 years?? For underwear shipments too?? Wild.
So the Skims underwear was legit but the driver was just… sneaking cocaine in it? I don’t know why that feels worse somehow. Like even the fashion is involved lol. $8.4 million street value is insane.
Why would he stop to pick up cocaine if the “exporter and importer” weren’t connected? Sounds like they missed something. Also 4500 Euros like that’s nothing… unless he thought it was like play money. Confessed after denying, so I’m sure somebody made him talk.
I bet Kim Kardashian’s company knew. Not that they’d say it, but come on, it’s Skims and it’s celebrity merch. They probably just got unlucky with the truck. And 198 pounds?? That’s like a whole bunch, I’d think more than 13 years tbh. Border Force always says they’re brilliant, okay, but how did it even get through the first time.
