Dream’s Angel Reese gets glowing praise from Jordin Canada after historic game vs. Lynx
Atlanta Dream guard was effusive in her praise of forward Angel Reese after her record-setting effort against the Minnesota Lynx.
Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream bounced back in a big way on Sunday as they snapped the eight-game winning streak of the Minnesota Lynx, 89-81, much to the delight of the crowd at Gateway Center.
The Dream bowed to the Portland Fire, 101-83, in the same venue on Friday, which ended their four-game winning streak.
Reese played her heart out, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. She set the league record for the most double-doubles in a season with 29 and counting, surpassing the previous feat set by Alyssa Thomas with the Connecticut Sun in 2023.
Jordin Canada touted their gutsy victory over the Lynx and expressed her admiration for Reese.
“Angel, being the beast that she is on the boards, is just amazing to see the things that she does day in and day out every single game. I have never seen anything like it, to be honest. I’m glad she’s on our team,” said Canada, as quoted by Andscape’s Wilton Jackson II.
“She’s able to get us more possessions. She’s able to create for herself. She’s able to do it all. You just want a player like that on your team. She brings that grit, that tenacity, that attitude that we need, that we’ve been missing.”
Canada also had a strong outing against the Lynx with 16 points, four rebounds, and 10 assists.
Allisha Gray led the way with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals, while Rhyne Howard added 16 points and two steals.
Reese has lived up to her vow to give her all for the Dream, who acquired her in a trade with the Chicago Sky in April. She is set to make her first appearance in the playoffs after clinching a spot last week.
Atlanta is looking to end its three-year losing streak in the first round.
