A blind item landed in fans’ feeds late last week with a blunt message: longtime Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley was being put on pause after nine seasons.
The casting claim didn’t stop there. The blind suggested Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, Sutton Stracke, Bozoma Saint John, and Rachel Zoe are set to return full time, while newbie Amanda Frances is “most likely not.”
Then, after the rumor made the rounds, executive producer Alex Baskin stepped in.
On Friday (May 22), Baskin addressed Dorit’s apparent fate with a single line on his Instagram story: “not true,” via Us Weekly.
The timing adds fuel for viewers who have already been watching Dorit’s season unfold. Her Season 15 run included continuing to butt heads with Kyle during both the season 15 finale and the three-part reunion.
Dorit has been a full-time cast member since season seven, which means the reported “pause” would mark a major shift after nearly a decade on the show.
The rumor also lands as Dorit is in the middle of a heated divorce with her ex, Paul “PK” Kemsley.
Earlier this month, PK claimed Dorit spent nearly $1 million on luxury items while their family struggled to pay the mortgage for their home. Dorit has said she would “have a response to it” soon in court.
In remarks she made to Extra, Dorit explained that when litigation is ongoing, the process has to play out.
“When you’re in litigation, you have to sort of follow the legal process,” she said. “I think there will be answers to everything. When you hear one version or one narrative, there’s always another side.”
She also addressed the spending allegations directly. “Do I love fashion?. Yes. Do I spend a lot of money on clothes, expensive clothes, designer clothes?. Yes. It is my choice. It is also my money,” Dorit said. “It’s my money that I earn, that I work for. Not his money. However. once PK and I can finish and have an agreement. what I choose to spend my money on and what he chooses to spend his money on. it’s our own choice.”.
As for the reality-show side of the story. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has not officially been announced to be renewed for a 16th season. though renewal seems likely. Several other Real Housewives shows were recently renewed—raising expectations that the franchise will keep moving forward. with or without the kind of shake-up fans were told to anticipate.
