Miley Cyrus opens up about last conversation with Dolly Parton
In an Apple Music Interview, Miley Cyrus shared that the last time she talked to Dolly Parton, she was showing her new album “Bass Persuades.”
Countless municipalities − and even one state − have declared Friday, Sept. 25 as Dolly Parton Day.
On Sept. 20, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law that establishes Sept. 25 as Dolly Parton Day. The day, 9-25, honors the late musician’s popular single, “9 to 5.” The “Queen of Country” died at the age of 80 on Aug. 25 after a brief battle of cancer.
“We could all afford to live a little more like Dolly. Be kind, be humble and have some fun … Be a diamond in a rhinestone world,” Newsom said in a news release. “With this bill, we are not just establishing a day to celebrate Dolly Parton, we are creating an annual reminder to us, every year, to live the way she did − joyfully, graciously and with a whole lot of heart.”
What other cities are celebrating Dolly Parton Day?
To no surprise, Nashville has also deemed Sept. 25 as Dolly Parton Day, according to the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. Nashville residents and visitors are encouraged to “wear pink, spread kindness and enjoy ‘9 to 5’ at 5 p.m.” local time. The Nashville Visitor Information Centers will be giving away free buttons, stickers and bookmarks throughout the day and fireworks will conclude the celebrations at 9:25 p.m. local time.
On Sept. 25, country musicians Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are also celebrating Parton with “Dolly Day” at their Nashville-based bar and restaurant, Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk. All proceeds from the establishment on Sept. 25 will be donated to Imagination Library, a free book gifting program for children the late musician founded in 1995.
