Digital Eclipse Brings Toy Story Retro Games Back

Digital Eclipse is reviving Woody and Buzz’s past with two nostalgia-focused projects: Toy Story: Retro Roundup, a definitive collection of classic ’90s and early ’00s games, and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition, a remaster upgraded to 4K and 60 fps. Both are set

The calendar doesn’t just mark the return of a franchise—it lands on a milestone that hits hard for anyone who grew up with Toy Story. In 2026, it will be 30 years since the premiere of 1996’s Toy Story. Now Digital Eclipse has stepped in with a promise that sounds less like a marketing pitch and more like an invitation back to the games.

The studio behind retrospective collections such as Atari 50. The Making of Karateka. and Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection has announced two Toy Story nostalgia projects. The first is Toy Story: Retro Roundup. positioned as a “definitive collection” of classic Toy Story games from the ’90s and early ’00s.

Retro Roundup’s lineup is stacked with familiar names, and it’s also built for both nostalgia and comfort. The bundle includes:
Toy Story (1995)
Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (1999)
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (2000)
Toy Story Racer (2001)
A Bug’s Life (1998)

Alongside those releases, the collection includes a surprise bonus game.

Digital Eclipse says each game in Toy Story: Retro Roundup can be played in its original visuals or in an upgraded resolution. It also brings back features fans associate with the studio’s modern rereleases: a rewind mechanic. save states. and a practice mode with guided walkthroughs. There’s even a cheat option tied to Rex. With Rex’s Cheat Codes, players can immediately unlock characters, levels, invincibility, unlimited lives, and bonus modes.

For those who want to go deeper than gameplay, Retro Roundup is also packing archival extras. The collection includes development materials and six behind-the-scenes video interviews with creators from Pixar and TT Games, voice actor Jim Hanks, and more.

The second project shifts the focus from a full retro sweep to a single, bigger comeback. Toy Story 3 Complete Edition is a remaster of the 2010 game, and it comes with a performance and image upgrade fans will feel right away—4K resolution and 60 fps performance.

It also adds content that previously was exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version. That means players can play as Zurg in the game’s Toy Box mode, alongside Toy Story 3’s signature open-world sandbox.

  1. So wait is this free or do they just sell nostalgia again? Cause I’m seeing all these remasters lately.

  2. Retro Roundup sounds cool but why is it including A Bug’s Life? Like that’s not even Toy Story… unless I missed something. Still though, rewind/save states is legit.

  3. I saw “4K and 60 fps” and thought it was for the original 1996 movie or something lol. Also Jim Hanks? so that’s Tom Hanks’ brother right? Idk I’m confused but I want Buzz back.

  4. I don’t trust these bundles. They always “definitive collection” it and then something’s missing like the real PS2 version never works right. If Rex cheats unlock invincibility and unlimited lives, why even play? Might still get it on Switch 2 just to mess around though.
