Sean “Diddy” Combs is pushing back hard against a key demand in the lawsuit brought by music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones.
In court filings reviewed, Diddy argues Jones has failed to turn over his medical records despite his request for discovery. Diddy’s position is that he shouldn’t have to produce a batch of documents or answer questions directed toward Jones’s medical records. calling the discovery requests abusive and improper.
Diddy also says the two sides were supposed to reach an agreement back in November. He claims Jones was expected to sign off on a release that would allow access to Jones’s medical records. Diddy contends that the release provided did not comply with regulations related to the privacy of such records.
The dispute isn’t limited to paperwork. In the same filing, Diddy says Jones is seeking questions about Cuba Gooding Jr. Jones had claimed Cuba Gooding Jr. was involved in one of the assaults on Jones aboard Diddy’s yacht. Diddy’s legal team argues that seeking information about alleged conduct or statements by third parties like Cuba Gooding Jr. is improper.
Diddy previously denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the case, describing Jones’s lawsuit as a money grab.
Jones’s claims are serious and specific. In his suit, he alleges that Diddy groped him and touched his butt. Jones also says Diddy often walked around naked when he was around and tried to get him to have sex. He further claims he was drugged and raped at Diddy’s home.
Money is also at the center of the fight. Jones is seeking $30 million in damages. In the case so far, a judge previously dismissed many of the producer’s claims.
Diddy’s attorney previously told TMZ: “Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar who filed a $30 million lawsuit shamelessly looking for an undeserved payday. His reckless name-dropping about events that are pure fiction and simply did not happen is nothing more than a transparent attempt to garner headlines.”.

I read that he called the discovery request abusive? Isn’t that just lawyers doing lawyer things. Also Cuba Gooding Jr being mentioned like wtf.
Wait, I thought the whole point was medical records like they’re supposed to use them? If there’s supposed to be a release, why didn’t Jones just sign it back in Nov. Sounds like everyone’s dodging paperwork.
Name-dropping and “money grab” is crazy coming from Diddy but I’m also confused about this privacy regulation part. Like if it’s sealed, how does the court even know what’s relevant? And $30 million… that number sounds made up, but maybe that’s normal in these cases.
