DGA Ratifies New 4-Year Deal to Guard Jobs

DGA ratifies – The Directors Guild of America ratified a new four-year contract Thursday, saying it was overwhelmingly approved and built to protect members’ jobs during Hollywood’s historic slump.

By the end of Thursday’s vote, the message was unmistakable: the Directors Guild of America is pressing pause on uncertainty for its members.

The DGA ratified a new four-year contract designed to protect members’ jobs during Hollywood’s historic slump. DGA President Christopher Nolan and National Executive Director Russell Hollander shared the result with members Thursday. saying the deal was “overwhelmingly” approved. Nolan and Hollander also told members that. throughout the process. “our focus was clear: protect our members. strengthen the Guild and address the challenges facing our industry during a period of profound change.”.

Hollander added that the vote reflected member unity, saying, “This incredible show of support from our membership for this new contract shows the strength of our unity and our solidarity.”

Even as the guild celebrated the outcome, the practical stakes were front and center. The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers congratulated the DGA for ratifying the contract. saying the agreement “delivers historic contributions to the guild’s health plan. meaningful wage and residuals improvements and strong job protections.”.

The AMPTP also framed the timing as a closing of the loop. With the spring 2026 bargaining cycle now complete. the statement from the AMPTP thanked the DGA. WGA and SAG-AFTRA for their “thoughtful and collaborative approach to negotiations.” It continued: “Together. we reached agreements that deliver substantial gains for guild members while supporting greater stability across the entertainment business.” The AMPTP said it was “encouraged by the trust built throughout this cycle” and looked forward to building on that momentum to “advance opportunity and shared success across our industry.”.

The ratification comes after a tentative agreement reached more than two weeks earlier between the DGA and the AMPTP. At the time, the AMPTP touted the “fair deal” it said would help “advance a stable and successful entertainment industry.”

Talks between the DGA and AMPTP began on May 11, more than a month before the current deal was set to expire on June 30. With this DGA decision in place, the AMPTP has finalized its bargaining cycle with all three major entertainment guilds.

That broader sweep matters because it mirrors the momentum already seen in other unions. As previously reported at the start of June. SAG-AFTRA members voted overwhelmingly in favor of ratifying its new bargaining agreement with AMPTP. with 91.42% of voting members voting in favor. The Writers Guild of America then voted to ratify its new deal back in April. with WGA members also backing it in large numbers. with 90.4% in favor of ratification.

The through-line across all three outcomes is the same: in a period when Hollywood has been grappling with a historic slump, the negotiations are ending with contracts meant to keep livelihoods steadier—starting with the DGA’s new four-year framework, ratified Thursday.
