Schneider Electric pushes demand-side efficiency at VivaTech

“Mindset is one of the biggest barriers to change,” said Frédéric Godemel, Executive Vice President of Energy Management at Schneider Electric. “Too often, people assume that the solution to ‘not enough energy’ is simply to add more. The reality is that we also need to consider demand-side efficiency. Misconceptions around cost, complexity, and payback are holding back progress on resilient AI-powered infrastructure and electrification. Through the Energy Technology Coalition, we’re proving that the technologies to build intelligent, resilient, efficient, and sustainable energy systems already exist.
Today’s challenge is to rethink how we manage energy demand. At VivaTech, we’re partnering with tech leaders and startups to scale solutions faster, powering sustainable AI growth and more affordable energy.”

So they’re saying just turn things off? lol
I don’t buy the “it’s too complex” part. People just don’t want to pay upfront, that’s all. Also AI “powered infrastructure” sounds like another sales pitch.
“Not enough energy” and they want demand-side efficiency… so basically raise the prices less? Or do they mean like consumers should be blamed for using too much? My brother said AI power uses like, all the electricity anyway.
Every time I hear energy management + AI I think it’s gonna be some app that tracks you and charges you more. But if they’re really just trying to get smarter about demand, okay? The payback thing confuses me though—like how is saving energy not instantly worth it? And VivaTech is in Europe right? so are we importing all this stuff or what?
