Delta’s next Delta One lounge targets ATL’s top flyers

Delta is preparing to put its most exclusive airport space in the center of its Atlanta empire—if the timeline survives construction.

Atlanta City Council’s finance committee approved a motion allowing Delta Air Lines to lease more than 39. 000 square feet of space for a new Delta One lounge above Concourse E at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). set between gates E14 and E27. The upper-level space will be in an area that hasn’t been built yet, and no opening date was provided.

Construction, the committee’s details suggested, could take several years. Delta’s goal, as outlined in the motion, is to create an ATL experience “similar to the Delta One experience at other Delta hub airports.”

For travelers who have long watched Delta build out premium lounges elsewhere. the move hits at a straightforward promise: the fanciest Delta airport product may finally arrive where the carrier’s network churns the most passengers. In 2025. Delta said it was “working” to bring a Delta One lounge to ATL. but it offered no additional details at the time.

Delta One lounges are the airline’s top-tier spaces. designed for travelers in long-haul international business class and for customers with Delta 360—Delta’s invite-only top loyalty tier. In those lounges, travelers can expect specialty food and beverage options and what Delta markets as luxurious seating and environments.

Delta currently operates four Delta One lounges: at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). A fifth lounge is on the way to LAX as well. moving to Terminal 2; the current LAX Delta One lounge is in Terminal 3.

Delta One lounges sit in direct competition with premium-brand offerings from other U.S. carriers. American Airlines offers Flagship Lounges, and United Airlines runs Polaris Lounges. Access to all of these is limited to long-haul business and first-class flyers and select top-tier frequent flyers.

What ATL’s new Delta One lounge will look like beyond its scale remains a question. Delta also already has eight Sky Clubs at ATL. featuring amenities that include outdoor terraces and different areas to lounge or work. but the motion does not spell out what unique features Delta plans for the Delta One space.

A Delta spokesperson was not immediately available to comment on the plans.

The push comes while ATL continues to stand as Delta’s largest hub. and the contrast is clear: the lounge brand is known for exclusivity. yet the company has been without that specific offering in Atlanta—until now. with an approved lease and a timeline that could stretch for years before travelers finally walk in.

  1. Wait above Concourse E?? That sounds like it’s gonna take forever. I don’t even go to that part of the airport half the time. Also why no opening date, Delta always ‘working on it’ lol.

  2. “Similar to other Delta hubs” but which ones tho? Like is it gonna be better than the Centurion stuff or just pretend to be luxury seating. And if construction takes several years does that mean flights get delayed there? I feel like they’re spending money and ATL will still be chaotic.

  3. 39,000 square feet for a lounge is wild, Delta really wants their VIP people parked. I saw this and thought they were building it at the main terminal though, not above Concourse E between E14 and E27. Either way I’m never gonna use it, but I’m happy for whoever is Delta 360 invite-only or whatever.
