Cycling mayhem as deer crashes course
A deer darted onto the road during Tour de Hongrie stage two, prompting a near-miss and avoiding a serious crash.
The incident happened in the Tour de Hongrie during the early phases of stage two from Szarvas to Paks.. A small deer abruptly ran out from a wooded area and across the road just as the group of riders travelled past.. Martin Svrcek, who was leading the pack, immediately hit the breaks on his bike to come within inches of hitting the animal.. But his intervention saved the deer, which slid across the floor and
continued running to the other side of the road.. You can watch the dramatic footage in the player above.. Not only was the deer saved, but a crash was also avoided.. Fans took to social media to react to the incident, with one person writing: “Got to say, amazing bike handling to avoid that.” Another said: “Whoa, that’s dangerous, but dynamic dodge.” While a third commented: “That was soo close to massive crash.” Benoit Cosnefroy
went on to win stage two of the Tour de Hongrie.. Alexis Renard and Max Kanter followed him in second and third.. A similar incident happened at the Tour Down Under in January.. Dramatic footage showed a kangaroo jumping straight into the path of the cyclists as they travelled through the Adelaide Hills in southern Australia..
