Darin Brooks is set to reprise his role as Wyatt Spencer on Wednesday, May 27—just in time for what he teases will be a fast, family-driven shakeup. After joining The Bold and the Beautiful in June 2013 and last appearing in January 2024, Brooks says the retur
When Darin Brooks talks about returning to The Bold and the Beautiful, he doesn’t sound like someone stepping back into a routine. He sounds like someone answering a call.
Brooks will celebrate his birthday in a very special way this year by returning as Wyatt Spencer on Wednesday, May 27. “I saw the script. and I was like. ‘OK. shooting this day … air date May 27. ’ and was like. ‘Wait. that’s really cool. ’” he says. “I’m a firm believer in signs. and the universe presents you things. and everything happens for a reason. and I just took that as one of those things of like. ‘Alright. this is meant to be. and let’s have some fun.’ I got super excited. and I am super excited. to jump back into the Wyatt character.”.
Brooks joined the soap in June 2013 and last appeared in January 2024. Between then and now. he starred in the movie The Roaring Game—but this time. coming back meant something more than returning to familiar sets. “I get to come back with some fresh eyes,” he says. “The studio is bigger, so there are more setups, and it’s awesome. It’s got a new feel. it’s got a new vibe. but just jumping back into it was like riding a bike again. I’ve been doing it for so long that it’s just second nature.”.
The decision didn’t happen in a vacuum. Brooks says he’d been in preliminary talks with The Bold and the Beautiful’s executive producer and head writer. Brad Bell. and even visited the show’s new studio space. “We had just been chatting,” Brooks explains. “Brad got lunch for everybody. and he was like. ‘Come down for a Pink’s hot dog and see the stages.’ And I went down. and I saw everything. and it was great. and
everybody was like. ‘Oh. my God. are you coming back?’ And I’m like. ‘Well. I don’t know yet. We still got to talk about it.’ And we went up to Brad’s office. and he shut the door. and he was like. ‘So you want to come back?. … You’re obviously loved here. and we would love to have some comedy on the show again.’ We had a couple more discussions. and then it took shape
from there.”.
What he’s really excited about, though, is the people. Brooks says he “couldn’t wait to reconnect” with Don Diamont and Scott Clifton—who play Bill Spencer and Liam Spencer—along with meeting Crew Morrow as Will Spencer and working with Crew and Heather Tom. who plays Katie Logan. He also points to ongoing connections, including Ash Brewer, who plays Ivy Forrester and is on maternity leave. “When they had the party for the [B& B] app launch [In March]. it was great reconnecting with Ash Brewer [Ivy Forrester. who is on maternity leave]. and I’m so happy for her. ” Brooks says. “We were reminiscing about Ivy and Wyatt, and that could be interesting. We shall see.”.
On set, he expects the kind of loosened-up energy that made his earlier run memorable. Working again with Diamont and Clifton, Brooks describes it like slipping back into a familiar rhythm. “Oh, it’s jumping back into the Three Stooges,” he muses. “We’re a pain in the ass to work with. because we just joke the whole time and crack up the set. and the directors are like. ‘Okay. just let them have a couple seconds
and get it out.’ And then it’s. ‘Let’s go. come on. we got to shoot. ’ and we’re like. ‘Okay. sorry. sorry. sorry!. It’s just been so long.’ But we’ll just crack each other up and just make jokes. I think that levity on set was needed, and I think people appreciate that, too. A lot of crew members laugh. and they always come up and say. ‘We’re glad we got the band back together.’”.
The stakes for Wyatt’s comeback land quickly. Brooks says the reason for Wyatt’s return to Los Angeles will be revealed “pretty quickly.” “Well. let’s just say he’s been going through a lot. ” he teases. “He was summoned by his father for a reason that we’ll find out on Wednesday. and he brings someone with him. which I think we all know who that person is going to be. Denise [Richards. who plays Shauna Fulton].
and I’m excited to work with her as well. She’s such a sweetheart, I love her to death. I’ve known her for a long time. since the BMS [Blue Mountain State. in which they both appeared] days. so I love her. But he’s back for a specific reason. for his dad and for Logan. and we’ll find out what his big ask is. We’ll see how it all unfolds. who it messes with. who it
doesn’t. who gets upset about it. who doesn’t. and what relationships it gets to mess up.”.
Wyatt’s fiancée Flo is part of the emotional timeline too, but Brooks isn’t giving away everything at once. “As for Flo, Wyatt’s fiancée, the audience will have to wait a bit longer to learn what happened between them,” he says, promising, “Not right away, but you will.”
As Brooks settles back into the swing of production, he’s already looking ahead to what comes next. He’s “always curious to see what Brad and the whole writing team comes up with. ” and he’s eager to see where they take Wyatt—especially when it comes to Wyatt’s relationships. “I’m excited to see where they want Wyatt to go and what’s going to happen to him. What’s going on in his current love life?. What is going to happen to his current love life, and if he wants a love life or not?. I don’t know. We’ll see where he is in his mindset.”.
The response from fans has only made the return feel more real. Brooks says he’s grateful for the support. “I thank everybody for being so supportive and loving the character, and saying such supportive things,” he shares. “I love the fans. and none of us actors would be anywhere without our fans in any show. so from the bottom of my heart. thank you all.”.
And he couldn’t resist nodding to one of Wyatt’s most chaotic memories from 2013. “I can’t wait to see you all, and I hope you all can’t wait to see me in all my glory. As long as there’s not another naked solar shower in the woods, I think we’ll be fine.”

Wait so he’s back already? I’m confused lol.
Bold and the Beautiful always doing random schedule stuff. If his birthday is May 27 too, isn’t that just them marketing it? Like the universe line sounds rehearsed.
Okay but Wyatt Spencer… isn’t that the character that left because of some “family drama” thing? I don’t even watch that much anymore but I swear every time someone says “fast, family-driven shakeup” it turns into the same breakup storyline.
Saw this headline and I thought Darin Brooks was like, coming back in real life for some reason. Like political vibes? Then I read it’s just a soap role lol. Still, May 27 feels suspiciously convenient, like the network planned it around his birthday or the ratings or something. Universe signs or whatever, sure.
