Bell says separatists shrink as Danielle Smith campaigns

Their tent is not getting bigger. Morgan is hustling for the cause. He’s written and revised a book for Alberta separatists. He’s pushing out lawn signs, putting up billboards and trying to win over undecided folks at every opportunity. Morgan no doubt realizes winning is 50 per cent plus one and his side is nowhere near there yet. The strategy of the loudest separatist voices is to talk and talk and talk and talk and talk. They like to talk to each other. They like
to talk to those already supporting Alberta independence. They like preaching to the choir. They don’t do well with people who question them. No problem. Some of them have already picked out a scapegoat for their blame game. Premier Danielle Smith. You see, Smith is campaigning for the pro-Canada side and in recent days she has upped her game pushing the stay in Canada message. She praises Prime Minister Mark Carney at every opportunity. And this week you read in this column how Smith came
out and actually dropped a bomb on Alberta separatism. Smith told us the cost to set up Alberta as its own country would cost in the neighbourhood of $400 billion.
Alberta separatism, Danielle Smith, Mark Carney, Alberta independence cost, $400 billion, pro-Canada campaign
400 billion?? that’s insane.
So basically the separatists are shrinking because Danielle Smith is campaigning harder? I mean yeah talk doesn’t win elections but they’re still loud. Not sure about the 400 billion number either.
I don’t get it, if separatists are “shrinking” then why are there still all those signs and billboards everywhere. Also $400b sounds made up to scare people, like they just picked a number. Mark Carney praising?? that alone sounds like politics, not facts. I’m probably missing something but it just feels like propaganda.
Wait, Morgan wrote a book and revised it for separatists, and now Smith is praising Carney and suddenly it’s “pro-Canada”? Sure. The way they “pick a scapegoat” makes it sound like Smith’s the bad guy even though the article is saying the separatists are the problem? I’m confused. Also do they even have the votes math like 50% plus one??
