Cowboys Cheerleader Reece Weaver Maps Life After Leaving

Reece Weaver, 24, says she’s stepping into a new chapter after leaving the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, describing a move from Texas to Alabama with her husband Will Allman and teasing new projects—including a book and plans to start a family.

Reece Weaver didn’t just walk away from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders—she started speaking like someone who’s already looking past the uniforms.

On the Thursday. June 25 episode of the “Human School” podcast. the 24-year-old dancer said she’s in a “stage” where she’s figuring out what comes next. She and her husband, Will Allman, recently felt compelled to leave Texas for Alabama. “We don’t know what the next steps are. but we know that the Lord was calling us back to Tuscaloosa and we had so much peace with that.”.

Fresh out of college at the University of Alabama, Weaver danced with the DCC for three NFL seasons. She told fans she’s officially hung up her boots and poms, opting to retire at the end of 2025. Looking ahead. she teased that she has “some other fun projects” in motion. adding that while she’s still sharing details. there’s a bigger milestone tied to her time with the Cowboys: “As I’ve been on the Cowboys. I have a book coming out that’s really exciting. There are things in the works and things to come. but right now. I feel like I’m in a part of my life where I’m trying to feel encouraged. inspired and to see really what is next.”.

Her next chapter isn’t only about work—it’s also about family. Weaver said she’s hoping to expand her family with Will Allman, her husband of two years. “I think there are dreams in the future of wanting to start a family and wanting to still dance. but I just don’t know what that looks like right now. ” she said. “So, we’re kind of in the experimental [phase now].”.

Weaver’s exit from NFL cheerleading played out for viewers as well. Her decision to walk away from Dallas Cowboys cheerleading was featured on season 3 of Netflix’s “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.” She’d also previously told Us Weekly earlier this month that her time with the team came with a fast pace of events and appearances. and that she sometimes felt herself treating it like a job rather than stepping back to enjoy the moment.

“We are so busy. Events and appearances, we are in and we are out,” she said. “I think sometimes we get caught up in, ‘This is a job. We gotta execute.’ Of course. we want to make sure that we keep our standards high and show the world who we are. but I often think that I missed out on maybe looking around the corner. soaking it in and taking a few deep breaths.”.

In the same conversation, Weaver added, “There are some really cool twists and turns and fun things that you get to experience. You don’t want to miss out on them, so soak it all in.”

When she talks about retirement, she’s careful with the language. On the “Human School” podcast, she said she’s hesitant to frame it as the end of dance. “I think retirement for me. at least the retirement that we use through the Cowboys. is you’re done with that journey of being a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. ” she explained. “For a lot of people. when you get to that position. it kind of makes you think you’re done with dance. I don’t want to use it because I’m not retiring from dance. I’m just moving on to the next chapter and the next. … I’m starting a blank canvas of what my story is going to look like.”.

Even before Weaver’s public reflections, the decision had already landed differently behind the scenes. Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders director Kelli Finglass. 61. told Us Weekly on Tuesday. June 23 that she wasn’t shocked by the retirement announcement. “I wasn’t shocked and I wasn’t surprised,” Finglass said. “I am happy for Reece. It’s a tough decision. I think it’s the right decision […]”.

  1. Moved from Texas to Alabama and suddenly it’s “the Lord calling”? Idk I feel like people say that when they’re trying to make a decision sound more exciting. Also book?? Like what, about cheerleading drama?

  2. Wait, did she leave because of her husband or because of the team? The article makes it sound like peace with Tuscaloosa but also she’s already planning family and still dancing. Then “hung up boots and poms” but also “wanting to still dance” lol pick one. I swear these NFL cheer interviews always turn into a whole life story.

  3. I don’t know her but I kinda love the idea of starting over. Like congrats? But also I’m skeptical when they say they “don’t know next steps” and then tease a book and new projects. That usually means they already had stuff lined up. And moving to Alabama… isn’t that where everyone goes to “find themselves” or whatever. Anyway hope the baby dreams work out.
