However, the offensive line was hit with some bad injury news just ahead of their Week 1 matchup against the New York Giants. Tyler Smith, their starting left guard, is headed to the injured reserve because of thumb surgery. The injury will keep the former first-round pick out for four to six weeks.
The Cowboys have already gotten busy tweaking their roster and bolstering the offensive line depth. Their string of moves started with promoting Nick Leverett from the practice squad. He will serve as T.J. Bass’ backup, who is replacing Smith in the starting lineup. Furthermore, Dallas signed Laken Tomlinson to the practice squad to fill the void left by Leverett’s promotion.
