‘Coward And Liar’: Critics Trash Trump’s New Air Force One Claim As ‘Utter Nonsense’

Critics aren’t buying President Donald Trump’s newest claim about his decision to sneak off Air Force One in a catering container last month in the face of a security threat.

That initial plane flew as planned with the media and some of his staff aboard while Trump secretly made the journey in a military aircraft.

That effectively turned the initial Air Force One into a decoy jet, and those aboard were, unbeknownst to them, facing the risk that he was attempting to dodge with the surreptitious swap.

But that’s not how the president sees it.

“Why was it too dangerous for you to fly on Air Force One but not too dangerous for the press?” a reporter asked Trump on Tuesday night.

“I think actually the plane that I flew on was at greater risk. I think it was at greater risk, because that would be the plane I think that they would be more likely to go for,” he said.

But there’s a flaw in the president’s logic: Everyone saw him board the first plane and believed he was on it.

President Donald Trump turns and waves as he boards Air Force One in Turkey. However, it was later reported that he secretly left the aircraft in a catering container and flew in a military jet instead.

No one knew he had secretly left via another exit, hidden in a catering container and was transported in that container to a waiting U.S. military C-32A for the flight to the United Kingdom.

While any Air Force plane the president boards is given the Air Force One call sign, that custom was broken for this flight as the initial aircraft maintained that designation ― which in turn maintained the illusion that the president was still aboard.

Critics slammed the president for his faulty logic ― and for dodging the threat himself while allowing others to face it as his unwitting decoys.
