Court grants postponement in Meyiwa case for Ntanzi’s witnesses

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has once again been postponed to allow the defence to secure three additional witnesses for accused number two, Bongani Ntanzi. During Monday’s proceedings at the High Court in Pretoria, the defence counsel informed the court that one of the witnesses originally lined up to testify would no longer do so, as consultations indicated her testimony was no longer relevant to their case. two, Bongani Ntanzi, was a suspect in a 2018 murder case in KwaNongoma, KwaZulu-Natal. Ntanzi, along with four others, is on trial for the 2014 murder of Meyiwa, who was shot and killed in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. Presiding Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng expressed
concern over the ongoing delays in the trial which will resume this Thursday. “People will start talking about the case that I’m delaying the case, but I’m available. I’m guided by what the defense and the state dictate regarding proceedings. I am not the one delaying this case. We started in 2023, and it has progressed to this point. Let’s postpone to Thursday then.”
