Court denies anticipatory bail for Samarth Singh

As the suspicious death of 33-year-old model and actress Twisha Sharma in Bhopal continues to draw legal scrutiny, a Sessions Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of her absconding husband Samarth Singh. After the ruling, Bhopal Police announced a cash re
The room where Twisha Sharma died is now filled with arguments—over dowry, over mental health claims, over who pushed whose life off the edge, and over what evidence was handled in time.
On May 12. Twisha. a 33-year-old model and actress. was found hanging at her marital home in Katara Hills. months after her marriage in December 2025.. Since then. the case has moved from grief to courtrooms and police stations. and every new claim seems to raise another question about what really happened.
On Monday, a Sessions Court Judge Pallavi Dwivedi rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Twisha Sharma’s absconding husband, Samarth Singh. Following the decision, Bhopal Police announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to Samarth Singh’s arrest.
The rejection also puts pressure on the courtroom balance in the case, after the court had earlier granted anticipatory bail to Samarth’s mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, who is also an accused in the matter.
As the hearing unfolded, Samarth’s counsel opposed arrest by raising questions about Twisha’s mental health. That claim was strongly contested by Twisha’s family lawyer, who also warned of possible evidence tampering.
Hours after the order. Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma spoke with the kind of anger that has become difficult to separate from fear.. “Rejection of the anticipatory bail plea was not our victory.. Our victory will be when both are punished. ” he said. adding that he feared influence could be used to secure relief in a higher court.. He also called for the immediate arrest of both Samarth and Giribala Singh. alleging misuse of power and demanding a fair investigation.
In the background of these legal back-and-forths, the dowry allegations have stayed at the center of the dispute. Twisha’s family has alleged dowry harassment and murder. Giribala Singh denies the charges.
To counter those claims, Giribala Singh—along with Twisha’s mother-in-law—attached online transaction slips showing payments ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000, claiming they regularly provided for Twisha Sharma’s needs.
At the same time. a separate controversy has flared online: portions of Samarth’s bail plea circulating on social media have described Twisha as a “psychiatric patient and drug addict whose hands and feet would tremble without access to narcotics.” Twisha’s family has rejected these descriptions. saying she was cheerful and active before marriage.
Twisha’s cousin Meenakshi alleged that harassment intensified after Twisha lost her work-from-home job and became pregnant, and she also claimed her husband refused to acknowledge the child.
The police investigation now sits under a wider spotlight. Police said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing allegations of dowry harassment and abetment. Misrod ACP Rajneesh Kashyap, who is heading the probe, said efforts are underway to trace the accused.
“In the bail petition, allegations regarding Twisha being a drug addict have been mentioned, but we are strictly investigating the case according to the sections mentioned in the FIR,” he said.
While the case remains anchored to allegations, investigators are also dealing with contested medical and procedural details.. Police said a preliminary post-mortem at AIIMS Bhopal indicated hanging.. But Twisha’s family pointed to injury marks on the body and demanded a fresh post-mortem at AIIMS Delhi.
The investigation has also exposed procedural lapses. Police confirmed that the rope allegedly used in the hanging was not sent for forensic examination, and authorities said action would be taken against the concerned investigating officer.
In her own statements. Giribala Singh has maintained that Twisha suffered from psychological illness and depression. calling her death a “nightmare” for the family.. She alleged Twisha was pushed into the glamour world at a young age and remained under pressure thereafter.. She also claimed the family had not visited Twisha in the last five months and were preventing her last rites. while expressing faith in the judiciary and the ongoing probe.
Twisha’s family has not backed away. They have intensified their protest, demanding the arrest of both accused and calling for an independent investigation. The SIT continues to examine allegations of dowry harassment, physical assault, and possible destruction of evidence.
