Colorado football hero Boo Carter drops the mic after clinching the season-opening victory over Georgia Tech
Colorado football stumbled in crucial spots multiple times in Thursday night’s battle versus Georgia Tech, allowing a 100-yard kick return touchdown and having a game-tying field goal blocked in the fourth quarter, but the team seized the final minute of the game. Redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Lewis linked up with tight end Charlie Williams for a 20-yard touchdown with 37 seconds left on the clock, and then, after a 42-yard reception by Dalen Penson, another hero emerged.
Tennessee transfer Boo Carter came up big and blocked Yellow Jackets kicker Aidan Birr on a 45-yard FG attempt in the last few seconds of action. Colorado leaves Bobby Dodd Stadium with a 14-13 victory after capturing magic in the eleventh hour. This was no fluke, however. Carter prepared for this opportunity.
“It wasn’t my first one, I’ve done it in practice before… I had to dive for it, perfect timing,” the 5-foot-11 defensive back said, per the BuffStampede’s Oliver Hayes, ending the soundbite with the two words that, coincidentally enough, comprise the title of Shedeur Sanders’ debut hip-hop single.
The Colorado great happened to be in attendance for this unpredictable Big 12-ACC showdown, supporting his father and Alma mater. Boo Carter certainly made him proud with his timely and nonrandom block.
