College football star is removed from team after allegedly assaulting teammate in locker room brawl

A TCU football player who was dismissed from the team earlier this week for violating team rules allegedly assaulted a teammate, according to The Athletic.
Little details have been revealed about the incident that led to the dismissal of TCU safety Jacob Fields, but the outlet reports that the decision stemmed from an incident on August 12.
The victim was not revealed, but The Athletic says Fields committed ‘an alleged aggravated assault with hands, feet or fists’ in his team’s locker room.
In addition, TCU’s general manager told campus police about the incident which led to the player’s removal just days later.
‘Like much of what circulates online, a significant portion of what has been shared on social media regarding this situation is false or purely speculative,’ Philip Miller, Fields’ agent, wrote in a statement posted to X.
‘Jacob Fields and his family have not nor will have any further comment on the situation. Jacob misses TCU, his teammates, coaches and the relationships he built there.

‘He was a good student, a hard worker and competitor who built many meaningful friendships during his time at TCU.
‘He is grateful for the opportunity the university gave him. While disappointed, Jacob understands that given the circumstances, it was in the best interest of all parties to move forward.
‘He respects the decision and wishes his teammates and the TCU program nothing but success.’
On Tuesday, the decision to remove Fields from the roster was announced with a spokesperson saying he wouldn’t be a part of the ‘football team moving forward,’ per ESPN.
Fields previously spent the first three seasons of his college football career at Louisiana Tech.
With the Bulldogs, he had 92 tackles in the 2025 season and had three interceptions – two of which were returned for touchdowns. He was also named Conference USA’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
