Colin Farrell Warns Joy Behar: Grim Reaper Coming

Colin Farrell’s visit to ABC’s “The View” to promote Season 2 of “Sugar” took a stark turn when he told Joy Behar that “that grim reaper is coming for you as well,” prompting her quick retort. Farrell also said people don’t talk about death enough as he reflec

Colin Farrell walked onto the set of “The View” on Wednesday, June 24, ready to talk about Season 2 of “Sugar.” He didn’t stay there long.

The conversation shifted fast—first to age, then to death—and Farrell’s comments landed with the blunt force of someone who’s decided not to dress the subject up.

Joy Behar asked Farrell about reaching the milestone birthday as he nears turning 50. Farrell said he has embraced getting older, but he added that people don’t talk about death enough. Behar joked that she was “not going anywhere. ” and Farrell turned toward her with a line that made the moment feel suddenly heavier than a celebrity chat.

“That grim reaper is coming for you as well, sister! All of us!” Farrell said.

Behar came right back, replying, “But not today!” The exchange followed Behar’s reference to “Dreamgirls,” where she sang that she was “not going.” Farrell used that beat to drive his larger point about how rarely people speak plainly about death.

His remarks didn’t end there. Farrell continued telling the panel that death “shouldn’t be this big. fearsome thing. ” while also admitting he’s not fully comfortable with the idea himself. He added that he gets scared during airplane turbulence. and during the live broadcast he appeared to be censored after swearing.

“I don’t want to die! I want life to slow down,” Farrell said.

For viewers, the tone contrast was sharp: the interview began with promotion for Apple TV’s “Sugar,” then veered into mortality in a way that felt unguarded, even jolting, for a daytime stage.

Farrell was on “The View” to promote the second season of “Sugar,” including new twists in the Apple TV series. He also discussed reuniting with Tom Cruise after “Minority Report. ” and his return as the Penguin in “The Batman: Part 2.” Apple previously announced that Season 2 premiered Friday. June 19. with new episodes released weekly through Aug. 7.

Whether it was a joke or a reckoning, Farrell left the impression that talking around death doesn’t make it easier. It just keeps it out of the room—until it’s suddenly there, facing you, like the grim reaper he described coming for everyone, sooner or later.
