Clark heads into windy U.S. Open Saturday coverage

The 2026 U.S. Open’s Round 3 begins Saturday morning at Shinnecock Hills in New York, with Wyndham Clark holding a four-shot lead into what’s expected to be a windy day on Long Island. NBC and USA carry TV coverage, while Peacock, USOpen.com, and the USGA app

Saturday morning at Shinnecock Hills doesn’t feel like a routine start to Round 3. Wyndham Clark is walking into it with a lead—and the kind of conditions that can turn a scoreboard into a moving target.

Clark, the 2023 U.S. Open champion, opened the weekend’s third round position by taking advantage of mild conditions late Thursday. He jumped out to the lead at six under. then followed on Friday with a steady one-under 69 to reach seven under. That was enough for a four-shot lead over his nearest competitors. But there are 18 holes between “on top” and “caught. ” especially on what is expected to be a windy Saturday on Long Island.

At the halfway point, Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick are tied for second in a four-way knot. Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler sit just further down the leaderboard. If Clark stumbles, the field that made the cut is close enough to make the lead disappear.

On the broadcast side, the third round gets underway on TV with USA starting at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday. Coverage then switches to NBC at 12 p.m. ET, with a live simulcast of NBC’s broadcast available on Peacock. Featured group streaming starts earlier: Peacock. USOpen.com. and the USGA app will all provide featured group coverage starting at 9:10 a.m. ET on Saturday.

Peacock also carries a live simulcast of NBC’s coverage from 12–8 p.m. ET. The featured-groups window runs from 9:10 a.m. ET through the finish, across Peacock, USOpen.com, and the USGA app.

Everything hinges on what happens once the wind arrives and the pack starts moving—especially with Clark’s four-shot buffer and a second-place race that’s already crowded.
