The Indiana Fever didn’t just escape the Chicago Sky in overtime on Thursday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse — Caitlin Clark left the building with another kind of spotlight shining on her.

Chicago fell 114-106 to Indiana after Clark guided her team through the extra period. In the extension alone, the Fever outscored the Sky 16-8 to finish the job, securing their fourth win in five games and improving to 7-5.

But once the game ended, the conversation quickly shifted from the scoreboard to the shoes.

Clark, 24, tied her season-high with 32 points and added seven rebounds and 10 assists. She shot 8-of-18 from the field and went 15-of-15 at the free-throw line, turning the kind of night fans expect from her into a result that mattered.

Then she stepped into the postgame spotlight wearing her latest custom player exclusives (PEs): the Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Eras Tour.” When she put them on display in her postgame conference, she also admitted a surprising emotion along with the fashion statement.

“These are my last PEs that I was going to debut, so I saved the best ones for last. But obviously, you guys know I’m a big fan of Taylor, and the ‘Eras Tour’ was the best concert of all time,” Clark said. She explained that she expected attention, but the reaction still caught her off guard.

“I think they’re pretty fun. I’ve never had so many people ask me for my shoes after the game today. Literally every kid was screaming for them, and I felt bad. I’m like, ‘Honestly, no, sorry.’ I got to keep them.”

For Clark, the “Eras Tour” link runs deeper than a theme on a sneaker. She has watched Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour on back-to-back nights at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2024, and she even received several gifts from Swift, whom Clark invited to watch Fever games.

Swift, 36, has yet to come to Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Still, she has expressed her desire to do so.

Clark’s shoes carried the same Swift energy through the arena even as the WNBA stakes stayed firm on the floor. Indiana pushed its way past a close. physical contest and turned overtime into a controlled finish — one that put the Fever right back in the flow of a season that has had them clicking at the right moments.

And when Clark looked toward the night ahead, the attention wasn’t lost on her, either. She said those were the last PEs she planned to debut — a final set tied to the concert that’s already shaped her year in a very public way.
