a phone call Thursday. “I am Jewish and I must tell you it’s gratifying to work with others who aren’t Jewish but who do all they can to ensure things are done right for all human beings.”Article contentAfter facing intimidation, discrimination, vandalism, harassment, shootings and threats in their schools, synagogues and communities since the October 7, 2023, terror attack of Israel by Hamas, many Jewish Canadians have become deeply depressed and fearful. Sounds like politics and religion doing what it always does.
Wait so the problem is an appointment? I’m lost. Like who is Alghabra and why are people mad about it? Seems like they’re pushing a petition while everyone’s already scared.
So CLARITy is mad that Carney won’t talk? I thought Carney was the one who handled COVID stuff or whatever, now it’s Israel/Hamas Canada stuff? Either way, if there’s vandalism and shootings like they say, that’s horrible, but petitions usually don’t change anything. Also Mohammed said you don’t have to be Jewish to get it… but I feel like everyone’s still just arguing slogans.
I don’t get the whole “non-Jewish Canadians are more upset than Jewish Canadians” part. Like wouldn’t it be the other way around? If Jewish people are depressed and planning to leave Canada, that seems more like a government failing than anything CLARITy can do. Also Alghabra appointment?? is this the same Alghabra that worked on transit or immigration or something? The article’s talking in circles a bit, not gonna lie.
