Chud the Builder Linked to Shooting Outside Tennessee Courthouse

Authorities said a controversial streamer, “Chud the Builder,” was involved in a shooting outside a Tennessee courthouse. No ongoing threat reported.
A controversial online personality known as “Chud the Builder” was involved in a shooting outside a Tennessee courthouse Wednesday, authorities said—an incident that unfolded as law enforcement moved quickly to secure the area and prevent any further harm.
The streamer, identified by officials as Dalton Eatherly, got into a confrontation with another man at about 1:15 p.m.. outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, according to District Attorney Robert Nash.. Nash said the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Clarksville Police Department acted swiftly. including locking down the courthouse and taking one individual into custody.
Nash told the outlet that a preliminary investigation indicates the confrontation between Eatherly and an unidentified man escalated to gunfire. Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment, and Nash emphasized that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
The case will now move into the formal charging process. Nash said the District Attorneys General Office is reviewing the facts gathered by law enforcement to determine whether criminal charges will be pursued, and promised further updates as the case develops.
Details of what happened during the confrontation came from witness accounts relayed in reporting from ClarksvilleNow.com.. The outlet reported that the incident began after the other man punched Eatherly, with gunfire following.. Nash told ClarksvilleNow.com that Eatherly opened fire and appeared to have shot himself in the arm. after which he was taken into custody and removed from the scene by ambulance.
ClarksvilleNow.com also reported that the unidentified man was flown to a hospital in Nashville by helicopter, while officials did not immediately release his condition.
The shooting comes after a separate legal battle in Nashville earlier this month.. Eatherly was arrested on May 9 on allegations involving harassment of patrons at a restaurant in Nashville. where he reportedly shouted racial slurs before leaving after a dispute related to a bill.. According to WZTV, he was charged with theft of services and disorderly conduct, and he was released after posting $5,000 bond.
Reporting indicated that police said Eatherly had been asked not to livestream at the steakhouse. Officials also described prior online conduct tied to racially charged content, which appeared to be part of his public persona.
In earlier incidents, Eatherly had drawn scrutiny for using racial slurs while challenging Black residents to fight back, ClarksvilleNow.com reported. The same outlet also said he claimed during a prior confrontation in November that he was accompanied by the Clarksville Police Department.
Clarksville police officials publicly rejected that claim on November 13. stating that the type of behavior shown in the videos would not be condoned and that the individual in the footage was not affiliated with the department in any capacity.. The department said it was taking the matter seriously. looking into what legal action—if any—could be taken. and also reiterated support for constitutional rights. including the First Amendment right to free speech.
Eatherly describes himself on X as a “free speech patriot,” according to the reporting, with a following of more than 219,000 people. His profile, as described in the account, includes derogatory terms aimed at minorities and videos of live confrontations.
Late last month, he posted on X that it was “cute” for people to assume someone who comes up threatening his life would walk away with theirs. That post reflected the confrontational tone authorities and critics have tied to his online presence.
Wednesday’s courthouse shooting also intersected with ongoing litigation. Eatherly had been scheduled to appear in court as a defendant in a civil case, ClarksvilleNow.com reported. The outlet said he is being sued by Midland Credit Management Inc.
The developments raise questions about how online provocations translate into real-world encounters. especially when a public figure claims “free speech” protections while engaging in behavior that witnesses and officials describe as threatening or harassing.. While the First Amendment protects speech. authorities’ responses in these incidents underscore that alleged threats. assaults. and gunfire can trigger criminal investigations regardless of an individual’s stated motivations.
For local law enforcement. Wednesday’s rapid response—securing the courthouse and taking a person into custody—appears designed to prevent escalation in a space where the public expects safety.. Even as officials stress there is no ongoing threat. the fact that the incident resulted in hospitalizations suggests the confrontation quickly moved beyond online rhetoric.
As prosecutors review the facts for possible charges. the case may also bring added scrutiny to prior allegations. including the May restaurant arrest and earlier claims he made about police involvement.. How investigators determine what occurred during the gunfire—who fired first and under what circumstances—will likely be central to the criminal review now underway.
Chud the Builder Dalton Eatherly Tennessee courthouse shooting Montgomery County Clarksville police free speech patriot
wait he shot himself lmaooo
so the other guy punched him first and now hes the one getting charged?? that doesnt seem right at all. if someone comes at you outside a courthouse of all places you have every right to defend yourself. this is Tennessee not California people
I dont really follow this streamer guy but my nephew watches him apparently and honestly this whole thing sounds like it was bound to happen. these internet people think they can just do whatever they want in real life because they got cameras and followers and whatever but thats not how it works out here. and wasnt he already in trouble in Nashville like recently too? some people just dont learn i guess. the other guy getting flown to Nashville is not a good sign either hope he pulls through regardless of all the drama
This is what happens when YouTube lets these people get famous off doing nothing but causing drama and stirring people up for views. The algorithm literally rewards this behavior and then everyone acts shocked when it spills into real life. I seen clips of this guy before and honestly the whole thing felt like it was heading somewhere bad eventually. Not saying he deserved to get punched but these streamers go out looking for confrontations on purpose thats literally their whole content. Now somebody got airlifted and hes sitting in an ambulance and for what. A few thousand views. The whole streaming culture around this kind of content needs to be looked at seriously and I dont mean just this one guy I mean all of them doing this courthouse and street confrontation stuff.
